Do you think there is any relation of the Sun worshipping Rajputs and the Parsis? They both worshipped fire. Just wondering

Plenty in common between Hinduism & Zoroastrianism. Close & opposite mythology (Ahuras as heroes) in some aspects. Mitra (closely aligned with Varuna in the Rg veda) is an important figure even in Zoroastrianism. The Greeks then took back to Greece the worship of Mitra & which became a famous cult in Rome, one that has enormously influenced the myths in Christianity.

I am a Parsi-Iroon. We do not worship the sun either man.

I know Parsis do not worship the SUN. I was referring to fire. As for the rajputs, some worshiped SURYA, the Sun God and I thought there might be a relation

Can you back that claim up? Buddhism in India needs a serious revival. Dalits and Untouchables should be abe to freely convert to Christianity and other religions if they wish to. Why do you Hindus dislike their conversion?
bro i agree with u buddhism in india needs serious revival but being a hindu i never support any abhramic faith they are alian for us .and we don't want our population control by vetican city/soudi arabia .i better choose any indian religion like buddhism/jainism for dalits .

Dangerously speculative territory. No real proof. What next? The Rg veda too written in Central asia ?( as u know, that argument too has its takers) Varuna is also described as Deva in the Rg veda which lends it open to argument that the change in status of Asuras must have happened either during or just before its composition. The presence of the Bhrigus/Bhargavas also complicates matters as the great guru of the Asuras, Sukra, was one of them. They, after all are an important group going on to become the dominant priests in the post Rg vedic era.

Too much fog in the area that you are steering this argument towards.

Heh heh!

That's the Cao Cao in me! What do you expect from the born Asura?

If Indians were all Buddhists at least right before Islam arrived, we would had a good chance at resisting it better. But we had a bunch of narrow minded leaders. Can anyone here tell me how to defend caste to my Western counterparts? They go on and on about the Untouchabels and such.

You can't.

Why? Are imported myths any better than the local ones?

The Rajputs were probably descendants of the Saka-Pahlava who were adopted into Hinduism by inventive priests, through yagnas, into septs said to be descended from the Sun, the Moon and Fire. They worshipped Bhavani, mostly.

Once buddhism revived and they become real Buddhists they Hindu Vs Budhhism will start.

No, but if they wish to convert I don;t see the problem with doing so. Do you?
It is legal. Morover forceful conversion is same as forceful prevention :-)

Got it. Im Christian butour faith has been diluted since the Europeans and the Vatican got involved. I know most Christians wont agree with me but I try my level best to see all issues with a fair state of mind. The only reason I bring up Dalits and Untouchables is to highlight an area that such religions will do their best to exploit. If not Buddhism, then Hinduism needs to totally revamp certain belief, like some great Swami;s suggested.

If they wish to convert on their own for some reasons like say what A.R.Rahman went through but when some organizations are involved, I would say it is a no.

Not per se, just not too happy with all the proselytizing. Why is it that most people who are targeted are poor people with very little education, why if your arguments are very good, can't you convert highly educated individuals en masse? If someone is promising that his God is better & can get you a place in heaven, I believe that he/they should be asked to back up the claim or be booked under section 420 of the IPC for cheating. Individuals converting on their own accord is strictly no one else's business.

That kind of top-down reform will semiticise the religion. It won't work.

I agree with you totally.
