Hindi language resources in Pakistan, Why important.

Always a pleasure reading your posts.

In short you capture the gist of one of the aspects of Chanakya's arthashastra. It is vital that Pakistan understands the mentality to formulate a counter strategy. From astrologers to actors from ascetics to sanitation workers, everyone can be an asset. India showed this in 71.

Sadly, there is too much of an ego issue here. I remember mentioning how important it is to understand and read Chanakya's principles. Quite a few members ridiculed the suggestion.

There is a reason that a great muslim personality told us that " Ilm momin ki gumshuda miras hai, jahan se miley lay lo".

Half of our country was taken away from us, Siachen was taken, immense damage has been done to us in this war on terror. Hindu occupied kashmir has been demographically changed in front of us, but we are content with liberating Afghanistan in the 1980s with the entire western world on our side.

Anyways, point is hindutvadis are immensely strategic and their innate hatred for muslims and Pakistan compels them to pin prick Pakistan and in the process they do make mistakes. It is Pakistan's foremost duty to oblige.

India today offers a great opportunity to exploit it with China on their backs, but sadly, I dont see Pakistani leaders capable enough to galvanize state institutions to take advantage of it. The idea seems to be to just follow China and we shall prevail. Hope China leaves india a million times more mutilated than Taimur left delhi.
You're right. There is a fundamental malaise that has set in thanks to the modern T20 mindset. We need to be prepared for the long drawn out game of attrition. What we put into motion today won't yield results for 10/20 years - but we must be willing to do it nevertheless.

It is extremely important to keep our eyes and ears open on the enemy. Language resources are a vital tool to know what the enemy is thinking. Apart from the obvious intelligence requirements there is a long term strategic advantage in monitoring enemy mass media and internal propaganda which gives a deep insight into the mindset of the enemy . This information is open source but still in a different language. Most nations facing permanent strategic and tactical threats from enemies in the region, and all super-powers established Schools of Languages with the objective of providing resources for monitoring of enemy information. Israel developed very advanced capabilities in monitoring Arab media. U.K., USA. Germany ( both pre-World War 2 and present), Soviet Union ( now Russia), Japan, and China have very advanced language resources which are employed not only for military intelligence, but for soft power media out reach to enemy populations. Earlier the media outreach was usually through mail in print media, shortwave radio station broadcasts, and where possible with terrestrial TV broadcasts ( though these could easily be jammed) . In the 21st century the outreach is through podcasts, through streaming digital channels and where possible through FM radio.

Refugees from an enemy nation are an important addition to language resources.
During World War 2 a large exodus of Jews from Europe provided the Allies with invaluable resources in every language from Serbo-Croat, Czech, Polish and of course German.

Pakistan's language resources.

From 1947 till the 1980s Pakistan enjoyed a huge advantage in language resources over its enemy India due to the influx of Muslim refugees who brought in every language in from Ao and Khasi in the East; Gujarati in and Marathi in the West, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Tulu in the South. Pakistan even had Gurmukhi literate Punjabi speaking Muslims educated in Sikh Gurukuls who could read Daily Ajit very easily.
Due to its eastern wing Pakistan had immense language resources in Bangla and Sanskrit.
Radio Pakistan broadcast in Bangla and Punjabi to India audiences and Muslim Rababis broadcast Sikh Shabad kirtans to Sikhs in India on Sundays.
With the loss of the eastern wing Pakistan's Bangla and Sanskrit language resources suddenly depleted, though expat Bengali speaking Pakistanis kept Radio Pakistan's Bengali language services going till the mid 1980s.
Radio Pakistan's Hindi language service didn't fare very well. Post 1971 the influx of Indian Muslims declined to insignificance, and as the older Partition generation died off Hindi language resources became non-existent.After a stellar 35 year term the service shut down.

Pakistan's enemy today enjoys an advantage in language resources, with Sindhi, Pashto and Baluchi speaking assets.

Pakistan no longer has a significant pool of displaced persons from India to serve as a language resource. Pakistan needs to urgently revive its language resources pool by starting to teach the languages used by the enemy to a new generation of scholars.
Most important of all is to have scholars learning Hindi. The new Hindi that is officially used in India is completely different from the Bollywood mish-mash. It is highly Sanskritized with 90% of the words in Sanskrit and only the grammar roughly resembles Hindustani. It is exclusively in the Devnagari script which no average Pakistani can read.
It is therefore vital that as in the 1950s a language resource pool of Pakistanis fluent in modern spoken and written Hindi be available. We must be able to read the meeting minutes of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's Marg Darshak Samiti ( and for that matter we should be able to read an editorial in Eenadu and Samna )

Pakistan does have a Department of Sanskrit in Punjab University ( link below) but Sanskrit is not Hindi. We must be able to understand Indian news-anchor Asha Om Kashyap's rant, and also news anchor Rohit Sardhana's hysterical outbursts. When RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat makes his annual Durga Puja address we must understand what the mindset is. We will never win against an Enemy we do not understand.

But it is not just the government of Pakistan. There is a 5th generation war to be fought on the social media. it is younger computer savvy ordinary Pakistanis who must rise to the demand and learn Hindi, ( or Telugu, Marathi etc.) to worm their way into enemy social media sites and disrupt them. There are free on-line resources to learn simple Hindi. We must fight the enemy in the virtual world.

Feel bad for you boy, you are suggesting something to help your country and instead of exploring people here are busy running you down. Still good analysis and not just language good spy become expert of religion followed in the region they are posted.

Absolutely, The fundamental malaise is restricting our mindset to alternatives, other than nuclear showdowns and collective martyrdom.
That will happen unless we keep ourselves focused on the long term struggle.

@Silverblaze Thanks for appreciating my post. i agree completely.
The enemy follows the guiding principles of Chanakya as espoused in his work, Arthshastra with spectacular results.

Yes, 1971 Civil War was something that had been brewing for decades, in fact right from the inception of Pakistan itself. We failed to understand that Bengali Muslim nationalism was a unique parochial phenomenon. India has realized this much before. India merely took very expert advantage of an existing situation. I have discussed this at length with our guests from Bangladesh. But we must learn and survive.

Us gumshuda miras ki ahmiyat apne ahle watan ko mantiq ke zariye batana hoga.
Logic and information helps.

True, but we learned ( however imperfectly), the benefits of soft power. One of our successes was the outreach to the global Sikh community. We enjoy only a modest linguistic, and cultural affinity with the Sikhs, and there are centuries of hostility between Mughals ( perceived as "Muslims " ) and Sikhs. During Partition the massacres in East Punjab ( Punjab in India today) were committed by Sikhs. (Unfortunately it was Pakistani Hindus that faced the brunt of the retaliation) . Therefore , our success in changing the mindset of a population that is located in a frontline enemy state is no mean feat. Especially a population that once comprised almost a third of the enemy military manpower.
The Kartarpur corridor was a master stroke.

We should not dwell too much over the loss of our eastern wing. Overall, the loss of the eastern wing is strategically advantageous though the separation could have been achieved peacefully and with honor. Our nation is now integrated geographically, and culturally and far easier to defend. An enclave surrounded by the enemy, with a hostile population that is linguistically and culturally different from us was not worth the life of a single Pakistani soldier. It is regrettable how many died defending the indefensibl.

Anyways, point is hindutvadis are immensely strategic and their innate hatred for muslims and Pakistan compels them to pin prick Pakistan and in the process they do make mistakes. It is Pakistan's foremost duty to oblige.

Realizing that is half the battle won. Pakistan can return the favor very easily.

The idea seems to be to just follow China and we shall prevail. Hope China leaves india a million times more mutilated than Taimur left delhi.

We have gone from one extreme to the other. From reckless jihadism we have relapsed into insular pacifism.
Our leadership is completely pacifist to the point of endangering our nation's security . They are letting China do all the heavy lifting.
China is fully capable of taking on India alone but the Chinese have long memories and they remember who lets them down.

Its an uphill task. For me state institutions are not capable to deliver.

I agree on the horrendous strategic dilemma that East Pakistan presented, but loss is a loss it severely damaged Pakistan's Kashmir Pov and its existence was put into question. Like you very rightly said, the way it happened was the most painful. Some day we might discuss how Pakistan could have or should have found an easier way and what Pakistan can do to repair Pak-Bengal relations if it can at all and i know you have remarkable insight into it.

But the point is Bangladesh's success is presented as a template to separatists in Pakistan so it is hard to to let go of the East Pakistan trauma. Pakistan's stagnant growth in everything is making the state weaker. Even after 71 we did lose Siachen which pointed out that we needed some serious rethinking.

Agreed. It gives you the sense that they have given up on many issues or may be they are putting all eggs in the Chinese basket which is not a bad idea if results are healthy but unless Pakistan gets rid of its internal instability, China cannot help us much. State is weak and this is what bothers many.

👍Agree... ( before we deviate from the topic of this thread), this has been discussed intermittently, but not fully in discussions on various threads in which I participated ( Look up "Revenge of Pakistan ", United Greater Bengal, 1971 "Victory day "
and others )

The worst impact of the loss of our eastern wing following the civil war was psychological; an enduring trauma that is haunting us nearly 50 years later today. Cold logic, and the fact that we are infinitely better off today in terms of survival in our land as it is today , is forgotten. The sheer intensity of the pain and psychological trauma is overwhelming .

Our enemies know this, and use the 1971 trauma to their advantage to psychologically demoralize us in the virtual social media space. Far more than many of us ( even many members on PDF) , our enemy is aware of the cold logic that the 1971 Civil War will never happen again.

The events of 1971 kickstarted a chain of events that has now placed the region in extreme danger of mutual nuclear annihilation. This situation had not been foreseen by anyone in 1971, least of all by General Sam Manekshaw and Indira Gandhi. Sam Manekshaw lived to see his " defeated " enemy revive to pose an extreme threat to his nation, a threat he never imagined he would see in his lifetime, and about which there was nothing he could do.
Indira Gandhi died in 1984, riddled with bullets; the aftermath of the same ethnic, linguistic, parochial chauvinism that she used against us during our Civil War. We can only wonder if she looked back on her moment of glory in 1971-

If our enemy had foreseen the effects of climate change and the fate awaiting our former eastern wing they would have left the territory with us to drag us down, economically, and politically into our own oblivion.
Our western wing which we hold today would never survive the coming economic, humanitarian, and ecological disaster facing Bangladesh today.

On PDF we urgently need to a start a series of " What if ... " threads, starting with scenarios of if India had continued it's offensive in the West, to what if East Pakistan had seceded peacefully. The biggest "What if... is if East Pakistan had remained.
Like a catharsis this " What if .., discussed with Cold logic would do much to erase the psychological trauma.

Siachen was a "loss" of unclaimed and un-administered territory.
For our enemy holding the territory is far more painful than if they had lost it to us. The importance of Siachen has diminished with our interoperability and alliance with China, The enemy no longer has a " walk over" to threaten our communications with China and as events have shown there are consequences for any attempt to do so. More than uninhabited glaciers, rock, ice and snow we should be concerned with protecting our people in areas such as the Neelum valley where our population is subjected to vicious shelling killing women and children. But our government is pacifist. Our lawmakers do not see the bodies of their babies shredded with shrapnel. Cynically I sometimes wish a few Indian shells would land on Parliament House in Islamabad to wake them up.

There is no success in Bangladesh. Jerry rigging Western style " metrics" , statistics and making projections on so-called "economic " indicators ignores political, population and above all ecological factors. Bangladesh will soon be history as it is swallowed up by the rising waters of the Bay of Bengal and much of that we shall see in our own lifetime. This will happen regardless, of how many shirts and jeans are stitched and sold to Walmart.
There is an old Russian proverb " It is necessary to see with one's own eyes then read a hundred books "
I have been to Bangladesh and if you look at Dhaka, it is the city of the damned with gridlocked human powered traffic locked for hours, and beggars weaving their way in between the cars and banging on the rolled up windows . Wealth distribution is not a metric the international corporate consortiums are concerned with, Bangladesh doesn't even have an ambulance service remotely matching Eidhi ( which operates helicopters), and that patients die in Suzuki minivan "ambulances" stuck for hours in the Dhaka gridlock are facts lost on self-hating Pakistanis with the slogan " Look at Bangladesh...". Let them go to Dhaka then return to Islamabad as I did. That is when they will know how blessed they are to belong to the most beautiful land in the subcontinent. Pakistan will survive and progress far more than anyone can fore see just as on December 16. 1971 no one had foreseen what the state of our armed forces would have been in 2021.

Sure, Dhaka might not have the beautiful town planning of Islamabad, which was built by sucking the blood and sweat of the same erstwhile east pakistanis, but sure as hell Bangladesh doesn't have people blowing each other up every month, right?

Thanks for correcting. It is Anjana Om Kashyap. Hindutva spokesperson and news anchor of some news channel Youtube video I once stumbled on to. Would have to research and check which exactly but she is not worth the effort. No Pakistani understands her half Sanskrit half Hindi rants, but I say we should learn enough Hindi to understand the madness.

Ok, so Islamabad was built by sucking the "blood of East Pakistan", and the Second Capital built on Indira Road , and the Jatiyo Sansad was built by sucking the blood of West Pakistan . Incidentally by the same architect and town planner.

Bangladeshis blow yourselves up in good measure from time to time.
Their Border Guards blew up a good many of their Bangladesh Army counterparts in 2009, and the Airman's revolt , Khaled Mosharraf revolts, the Shanti Bahini and Sarbohara attacks, Artisan Cafe Bakery attack. Do you want a list here?
Forgot how Bir Uttam Zia ur Rahman and the Bangabandhu was sent upstairs.🤣

For many years East Pakis tanis earned most of the na tion's foreign exchange with their exports, only to find the proceeds used to build up in dustries in the West, which exported inferior consumer items at higher than world prices to the East under the protection of tariffs and ex change controls. Most big Pakistan state development projects—the dams, irrigation canals, power stations, land reclamation schemes, basic in dustries and even the expen sive, grandiose national cap ital in Islamabad—went to the West. Most defense ?? ments with their enormous expenditure were located in the West; less than 10 per cent of the military personnel for the armed forces was re cruited in the East. The West got the biggest bite from for eign aid and East Pakistanis found that most of what new enterprises did locate in their area consisted of branch fac tories, banks, insurance com panies and trading firms run by entrepreneurs of the West transmitting their profits to head offices in Karachi and Lahore.

“We are only a colony and a market,” became the lament in East Pakistan.

During the 1965 Indo‐**** stani war, East Pakistanis were shocked to find most of the national forces defending the West and few allotted to block India from marching into the East. More embittering still, when cyclone winds and tidal waves devastated much of East Pakistan last November, kill ing up to half a million people in one of the worst disasters of all time, little aid came from West Pakistan and less sympathy. Foreign countries were the first to help, and in the end provided most of the relief.

Derailing the thread.,..
Yeah, as you say we sucked Bangladesh dry ... So live with it,
We care little what happened 50 years back. Look to the future.

We are rid of Bangladesh forever , and care very little if 14-25% of its land mass sinks into the Bay of Bengal. If the displaced population moves to live in India so be it

If Bangladeshis don't like the Jatiyo Sansad, and Baitul Mukarram mosque, as relics of a hateful past they are free to demolish
You are not coming over here.
Our land is our land, beautiful and pristine.

Appreciate your attempt at Tamil but whoever taught you those 2 words at the end is not your friend.
