What's new

Himalayan salt comes from the mountains of Pakistan at the Khewra Salt Mine –

i saw it in Kroger and Walmart
haven't checked prices on amazon

previoulsy i saw it in walmart and it was 10X expensive and was listed made in india, i thought this was mined from kashmir or something

now that brand has disappeared and i see it only under pakistan name and very cheap

Our salt is million times healthier than all the widely available table salts and the consumers who are aware of it never go back to the normal table salt. As OP mentioned we are having estimated $2 Trillion worth of pink gold so good times ahead :D

even on amazon?
well on amazon you can sell everything, so its full with fake pink salts and there is nothing anyone can do about it
most of indians are selling dyed salt lol

problem is it was very expensive till now (Pakistan has flooded the market with authentic cheap ones now) and secondly a lot of fakes were available

but now that is available more widely the fakes one will die on its own

large retailers wont stock fake ones(credibility issue)

amazon ...will as fake is relative term on amazon

previously a pond will be sold over 20$ on amazon, now its dirt cheap 4$ and i think this will lead ot wide adoption, especially if we do some sort of awareness thing

Himalayan salt comes from the mountains of Pakistan at the Khewra Salt Mine –– not the Himalayas. Despite its popularity abroad, Pakistan, historically, has seen little of the profits.

Pink salt in raw form export value $40

Pink salt in finished form export value $400

now all pink sale export as raw material is banned

Good move by Government

6.7 billion tons are still to be mined with estimated worth over $2 trillion

only 220 million have be mined or around 3% of the total

now we need to use more advanced technology and avoid blasting to minimise wastage

and also produce higher quality items to add more value

Bahi 40$ was through right means... black market value was even low... and tons of red salt was exported to india through black market

£10 for 5Kg delivered. English owned company imports directly from Pakistan.

We use it for everything. No white salt in the house.

A lot of amazon sellers are now advertising Pink salt as Product of Pakistan. Expensive though, £6 for 900g!

We should have some sort of an anti-counterfeit mechanism in-place. I am not sure about the North America but across EU counterfeit is a very serious crime. A cheap yet practical solution that I could think of is "revenue stamp", to control the illicit tobacco trade it is a widely used method. No vendor will be keeping a counterfeit product because they know the consequences, even Amazon (provided we do the one time documentation) and for the Indian distributors they can always buy a finished packed product from us with necessary stamps already on it or if they want to reprocess it then apply for certification mechanism where among other things their packaging will also be vet making sure there are no false claims of Himalayan or Indian origin and along the salt we will provide them the necessary stamps according to each shipment.

@aziqbal
How about only exporting packaged, branded salt? Raw or bulk salt export banned.

We buy it often here in The Netherlands. Feeling proud and looking at the label made in Pakistan. Pakistan's name is begrudgingly hidden somewhere small in a corner. It is a miracle we even managed to remove India's dirty claws from our salt. Not so long ago India too was exporting our salt with the help of our UAE friends.

Indians have no shame... They rape pakistan's resources through their economic Terrorism!

Fact!

Indians have no shame... They rape pakistan's resources through their economic Terrorism!
Let's face it. Pakistan and Pakistani people are actively guilty by helping the Indians do it. in another reality Pakistan would be a coveted brand. Think of what it could be known across the world for -

  • Meat Karai
  • Chicken Karai
  • Balti curry
  • Chapli Kebabs
  • Peshwari Nans
  • Ghosht Pilau
  • Pink Salt
  • Shalwar Kameez
  • Pakol
  • Namkeen Ghosht
  • Indus Valley Civilization
  • Gandhara Civilization
  • Taxila/Greek rule
  • Defeating Alexander the Great
  • Sufi Music
  • Qawwali
  • Much more
Sadly all this cultural capital and heritage has been given away by Pakistani's to be branded and known by the world as "INDIAN". The amazing thing is most Indians are veggies. I know on PDF every Indian claims to be a meat muncher but the reality is differant. I watched this Vlog by Karl Rock, the visitor from India who was in Pakistan recently. He was struck by how Pakistani cuisine revolved around meat and how it was very difficult to find veggie options. He contrasted this with India being veggie dominant. Sure, some Indians eat meat but then some Pakistani's drink alcohol but nobody would call Pakistan a drinking culture.

Despite this across the entire world Meat Karai, Chapli Kebabs, Seek Kebabs, Ghosht Pilau is sold as "Indian". Frankly the name Pakistan is only used for -

  • terrorism
  • extremism
  • radicals
  • misogny
  • backwardnesss

To fix this all Pakistani's have to do their part and government must build up brand Pakistan.

Here in germany the cheapest I have seen is around 4.5 Euro for a 100gm in brown paper bag with ugly indian sticker "a product of india"
dil kerta tha jooti utar ker pochon kaunsay india sai laye hou.

Despite craving for over past 4 years I have refrained from buying it, it was an in principal stand , seems like the wait is over now :D
Oh man you have no idea! The basmati rice available in Spain is all from India. I tried so hard to find Pakistani rice! Fortunately, I did find a Pakistani brand but it wasn't Basmati, it was Sehla. Surprisingly, the price of Indian basmati and our Sehla was the same. Unfortunately, the packing of our brand was hideous. Indians have made the 5kg packs so ergonomic. We are still exporting our rice in those cotton thelas with threaded seal...

Agreed! 100%

Nothing will happen due to the Shameless arse-holes running this country. They are more interested in their bribery and corruption.

If Pakistan can process Himalayan salt into nasal rinse salt grade, your country will be very rich. I bought a 1 USD nasal rinse salt for 3 shacets with a total weight of only 8 grams for 3 days use.
about USD 125 for 1 kilogram.

really ? so it must be old stock that India re-exported

this is called day light robbery and I cant believe we allowed for this for so long
It happened because there is no law for exporters in Pakistan. Pakistan government never give any incentive to exporters in such a field like Salt, Marble and other items. Pakistan's only priority is exporting of textile products and after that sports and surgical equipment. But if we see any interest of Pakistan govt. in other items to be exported then you will see nothing. Then there Indian comes in and they offer a reasonable prices for such minerals while sitting in Gulf states and potrays as local businessmen in Gulf. As shipments goes to Gulf Arab states, Pakistani govts never ever have a check and balance on these exports.

That Indian business community sitting in Gulf then re-packed and re-export that minerals to Europe and USA on higher price tag which is way way more than what they paid to Pakistani exporters.

In some cases even our houisery products importing in Dubai from Paksitan by Pakistani business men but they dont have clients as major chunk of Hotel industry in Dubai was captured by Indians. They supplied all sort of Room accessories like Bed sheets, curtains, towels and etc. So those Pakistanis have to import these items from Pakistan and then they sell to Indians after having their profit. But real game starts then, Indian then restamp or retag those products and sell in local Hotel industy as an Indian Product on a healthy price tag. This is how the Indian ruins everything related to Pakistan.
