Beijing cops nab runaway ostrich
Armed officers dashing down the streets of a metropolis involved in a high-speed chase. In the wee hours of Thursday morning, Beijing witnessed the kind of excitement that thrillers are made of.
It’s only that the fugitive was a 1.8-meter-tall runaway #ostrich!
The bird was spotted dashing wildly on the streets of Chaoyang District, leaving cars and pedestrians dumbstruck.
With the authorities fearing that the bird could distract drivers leading to accidents, several traffic patrol cars were diverted to follow it.
However, the bird wasn’t keen on giving up that easily. It took several long rounds of chasing and careful planning before it was finally nabbed.
Once taken in, investigations revealed that the bird had escaped from a nearby ostrich farm.
The owner of the farm, a man named Zhu, was soon called and took the bird home.
According to reports, Zhu believes that the bird probably escaped the farm after being scared due to the loud noises emanating from a construction site close by.
