Hezbollah claims victory against Israel

They've lost their base of operations in Southern Lebanon. They need to get that back 1st.
That's why I'm concerned about the make-up and mandate of the UN force. If it's not much different than the last, then that wouldn't prove any difficulty for them

.
The French are going in 1st and before anyone starts the hoopla, I've worked with them in UNPROFOR. They don't take crap anymore than anyone else. This would be an armed force, not the unarmed UNIFIL. The French, like all other UN experienced contingents, will obey their own RoEs and not the UN's.

However, and this is the biggest point, the talk is that this mission will last 6 months. The French are committed to Afghanistan, just like the rest of NATO. It is the Lebanese Army taking over that we will see or not if there is increased Hezbollah activities.

My apologies but I actually have a beef with that ranking. ALL WORLD WAR III ARMIES ARE BETTER THAN ISRAEL! And by WWIII, I mean the Fulda Gap. Those who know me from WAB has seen me shot down this Israeli ranking. It's undeserved.
Yes I remember, loved that thread.

TEL AVIV: Israel's embattled army chief of staff admitted for the first time on Thursday to failures during the Lebanon war and called for the mistakes to be examined.

"Parallel with our success, during combat we observed failures in certain areas, notably in the areas of logistics, operations and command," Lieutenant General Dan Halutz said in a letter to the Israeli army.

"We have to proceed to a meaningful examination of the successes and the errors. We have to extract professional lessons, as we are faced with more challenges. This test concerns us all, from me down to the last soldier."

ISLAMABAD: Lebanon has suffered a huge loss of $10 billion due to Israeli invasion which lasted 33 days before the UN mandated ceasefire.

This was stated by the Lebanon Ambassador Khalil Muhammad while speaking as Chief guest in a seminar held at Preston University Islamabad Campus on Wednesday.

Khalil Muhammad commented that even after the so-called ceasefire, Israel is continuing bombardment on his country.

He said that Israel has committed war crimes against humanity. He thanked the people of Pakistan for their moral and material support to his country in this hour of distress.

Speaking on the occasion former Ambassador Akram Zaki traced the history of the Middle cantonment of the United States. He said that Israel has been failed to achieve its twin objectives of destruction of Hizbullah as well as dismantling the unity of the people of Lebanon.
He also blamed that Israeli leadership was war criminal and deserve punishment. He said that Hizbullah was not created by Iran or Syria, it was a genuine reaction of Israeli invasion in Lebanon.

Seminar coordinator Professor Dr. BA Malik speaking on the occasion warned that Israeli aggression if unchecked could spark a wider conflict leading to the demise of the United Nations and rise of international anarchy of unmanageable proportions.

The seminar was attended by foreign diplomats, retired Ambassadors and a cross section of representatives of civil society.
