We all have witnessed posts on our Facebook timeline about injured kids asking for comments like ‘god bless you,’ ‘amen’ and ‘get well soon’. Some tell you to like the post stating that equals to a prayer which would be sent to them! Well, sorry to break this but it’s a SCAM! The makers behind these posts do not have good intentions and are gaining likes and shares for Facebook Farming.

What’s Facebook Like-Farming?
Facebook Like-Farming is a process where a page tries to gain followers through exploitation or deception. The ‘farmer’ (the person who makes the fake post/page) creates a sympathy-gaining post and asks people to like or share it. Once the chain starts, the number goes high up and the Facebook algorithms change.
In the process, the page gains many followers making it a viral post on Facebook.
What happens next?
You must be thinking writing ‘god bless’ is such a compassionate thing and that nothing bad can happen with just one comment. But, you’re wrong! Many days later, the same page which has so many followers is then sold to online marketing companies by the farmers. Scams are launched in order to encash the popularity of the page and a valuable database is sold for financial profit. The followers and commentators are then directed to malware-laden websites that steal user information.
How can we make it stop?
