Iran plans to produce a documentary series on cultural achievements and luminaries of Afghanistan.
The documentary series is expected to be produced by Islam Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) in a bid to improve the image of Afghanistan in Iran.

The Iranian director Mohammad Hussain Jafarian said the documentary entitled “Hello Afghanistan” will focus on cultural achievements and luminaries of Afghanistan.

Jafarian quoted in a press release said the documentary series will be produced with an aim to improve the image of Afghan people in Iranian society.

He said prominent Afghan poets, physicians and businessmen will be featured in the documentary series.

According to Jafarian, some of the Iranian TV series have depicted Afghans as simple workers, gatekeepers or even thieves, but they want to feature the positive side of Afghanistan in their documentary series.

Jafarian has previously made a documentary about eh Afghan political and military leader Ahmadshah Massoud entitled “Unfinished Epic: The Lion of Panshir Valley.”

He has also written several books and articles about Afghanistan and has served as Iran’s cultural attaché in Afghanistan for several years.

He was injured during a conflict in northeastern Afghanistan in 1993 which left him paralyzed from one leg. He has met with the Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar and is a political analyst in Afghanistan’s affairs.

Instead of educating people about Afghanistan and our Iranic brotherhood with Afghanistan, government decided to invest in educating about Islamism and so a new generation of ignorant people who knew nothing about their kins and brothers and neighbors were created, with sometimes terrible consequences such as discrimination.
