Featured Hasina calls for strengthening ties with Pakistan

There isn't much more that can be done :
1. Cultural exchange?
Zero chance Pakistanis will
appreciate Robindro Sangeet or
Baul Gaan and likewise there is a zero chance Bangladeshis will
appreciate Heer and Jugni.

2. Tourist traffic?
Zero chance Pakistanis will prefer Kaptai Beach in Chittagong to the Golden Sands resort in
Gwadar, or Bangladeshis will prefer Murree to Sylhet.
3. Sporting events.
Apart from cricket there isn't much left. Bangladeshis play football which Pakistan doesn't, Bangladeshis don't play hockey, squash, wrestling or polo.

What is left ? Trade perhaps but the question is trade in what? With China next door Pakistan has access to tea and consumer goods.
There used to be a market for jute goods but now polyfibres have long since replaced jute.

With that attitude bro your going to go all around the world go somewhere such as Brazil try to do business and then you will say "no they have nothing in common with me or my country so I can't do business"?

Btw bro gold/yellow sands in abundance in many of our islands off BD :D

Sir, the business language in the world is English mostly and in my dealings with my Brazilian colleagues I use English. I did not have to learn Portuguese.
Likewise whatever minuscule trade there is between Bangladesh and Pakistan ( and I confess my ignorance on the details) can be conducted in English.
We don't have to learn Bengali to do business with Bangladesh nor do we have to understand the intricacies of jatra. Likewise we do not expect Bangladeshis to speak Urdu anymore than I would expect my Brazilian colleague to do so.

You are welcome to your islands. We have no interest in visiting them. Your land is rich with beauty as described in the song :
Dhono Dhanne Pushpe Bora. We wish you all the best.
We are grateful for our land which we describe in the song.
Pak sar zameen shad bad
( Won't bother translating that ...)
No. we won't go to St. Martin's island. We will go skiing in Naltar instead.

why the sudden change of heart Bengali witch didn't want to hear Pak name and now she has sudden feeling for Pak. did Modi stop satisfying her? I think Pakistan must go with good relation with Bangla, it will have a psychological impact on Indian mindset they will think this is a Chanakya doctrine or shit.

.
Pak and BD should start/increase tourism. It will increase/start people to people contacts. Plus it will benefit our economies too.

The thing with Tourism is that most of the people follow some kinda herd behaviour in which people visit other countries because well everybody else is. They just want to get out of country for few days and in this case they simply go to countries where it is easier to go and everyone else is going. At this time fancy beaches or resorts or weather don't really matter.

What if Pak and BD have easier visa regimes?
What if PK/BD people develop a sort of herd behaviour to visit each others' countries?
What if PK/BD people spend money on each others' countries instead to spending on other different countries where millions of tourists from PK/BD go every year and not a single one from those countries ever bother to visit our countries? Instead of giving money to others, how about we give money to each other?

.
The older BD members, if they have followed my posts much earlier, would know that I quite rightly predicted such move.

One thing people should realize about Hasina is that she is an extremely cunny woman and BD politics is dirty to the very core. If you have to survive in our political environment, the only way to go about is having a ruthless attitude with an very sharp mind. Hasina, to her credit, has such capabilities. You simply cant be PM for 3 terms in a row if you are playing just by the rules. Hasina does what she has to do when it suits her. She will sing along with Modi when it comes to keeping the bilateral relations intact and ensuring not making enmity out of a much powerful neighbor and for her political survival as well. As much as you hate India, you cannot deny the immense capability this nation has in terms of science/tech, military, resources, politics and corporations. Unless you are China (upcoming superpower) or to a certain extent Pakistan (nukes), its not wise to create conflict when you have 160 million mouths to feed, cloth and house.

Having said that, you have seen how she also fondles with China when needed. All our military and economic investments come from them but never seen a single AA gun or a major infrastructure tender going to India. They begged us and still begging us to buy arms from them, gave a random $500m loan to go with it. Nothing happened to pass apart from buying some transport vehicles and getting dogs! Why is that? Logic dictates that if she is a 'puppet', as people call her, this should not be happening.

And when it comes to her attitude towards Pakistan, let me refresh your goldfish memory. The problem only started when she decided to hang the razakars and Pakistan, out of absolutely no where and with absolutely no need, decided to pass a resolution in its parliament condemning the hanging. This is a very sensitive topic in Bangladesh and was also one of Hasina's biggest milestones. Pakistan had no business meddling into this as it was our internal matter and should have just left it as it was.

Last time I checked,
Did BD parliament pass a resolution condemning any issue related to Baluchistan?
Did BD parliament pass a resolution condemning when Islamic Republic of Pakistan sold JF-17 to Myanmar despite their genocidal attempt on the muslim Rohingyas?

No. Why? Cuz we dont give a flying fck on what other nation does with their internal money, military or politics. The matter does not concern us. That's the way it should be. You dont poke your nose into someone else's business, especially when you have not-so-fond history with them. You want to take a jibe at them? Be ready to take a jibe back without playing victim.

Despite all of the above, the trade and movement between the two nations has continued without problem. This is because Hasina realizes that development and politics are mutually exclusive. You don't mix the two if you want to progress. Credits should also be given to Imran Khan as well, a very intelligent politician, who had a cordial approach since the beginning towards BD and Hasina and probably also shares the same vision of developing Pakistan economically. For this, we need to work together and he probably also realizes that. He took steps to calm the relations by calling and sending in good words and now Hasina is responding. This is what should have been the case from the very beginning, further reiterating my earlier point: you reap what you sow.

Having said that, I hope things only get better from here. We have a very rowdy neighbor and the remaining of us should stay in good faith so that we can help each other out in need. Do remember that nothing is permanent in politics. These small jibes at each others should be least of our concerns. If US and Japan can be best buddies after the former almost wiping off the later from the face of this earth, anything is possible.

Brother think ya going off on a tail here, you don't need to learn no specific language I'm saying in order to conduct business or anything for that matter why do we have to pick out differences?

Someone here said a Pakistani can relate to a Punjabi Hindi more than a Bangladeshi but isn't that the beauty? What fun would it be if the whole world was Bangladeshi or Pakistani? You get me drift???????

I don't think you are being realistic.
Why would Pakistanis come to see the monument below. What else has Bangladesh to offer, I traveled to Savar also to see the Smriti Shuddha but frankly ( no offense intended) that was all there was to see.

You are comfortably living in a country(UK) which colonized us and Bangladeshis. Then there are millions of Pakistanis/Bangladeshis who visit England. If that can happen easily/comfortably, well then, I'm sure both Pakistanis and Bangladeshis can visit each others' countries comfortably too.

We were referring to cultural, geographical and linguistic differences which was the cause of the Civil War.

To do whatever business is necessary we don't have to learn each other's culture especially since this was the cause of differences in the past.
Yes, I am being frank that I identify more with a Punjabi Hindu from
Delhi or a Kayasth from UP . We speak roughly the same language, eat roughly the same food and can mostly understand each other. Likewise you would identify with a Bengali from India's West Bengal.
So let's forget the past and keep it this way .

You are welcome to visit the Hunza valley even though it is a poor substitute for the Chittagong Hill Tracts:

It's not a problem brother we pride ourself in being different we are the only country out of 3 that came out of a bloody war our forefathers have seen everything from picking up arms at the age of 13 to seeing heaps of dead bodies. Remember muktijodda is a grassroots organisation to the common folk than it being more a political one.

Hunza is no doubt beautiful mashaAllah same with chenub river, mangla dam, mirpur, dadyal, kotli etc. We don't feel malice or hate when Pak does something good especially when they strike India. Any good news from Pak is good news for us too.

Without getting personal just to let you know I am proudly holding my Pakistani nationality and am stationed abroad only for work. I love my country which I return to from time to time and Inshallah I will be buried there. Just in case I keep a little bit of soil from my native land to be mixed with the soil of whichever grave I am destined for.
Millions of Pakistanis and Bangladeshis primarily visit the UK to see their relatives or on work assignments. There is a large expat community in UK. The tourism is a side show.
There are not many Pakistanis with relatives in Bangladesh and vice versa. Nor are there ex-pat Pakistanis resident in Bangladesh and vice versa.
Also Pakistanis are not exactly welcome in Bangladesh and are in far more danger of physical harm than visiting UK.
As far as pure tourism goes from the Pakistani perspective the attractions are simply not there. Perhaps people from India or Myanmar might be able to identify with the culture better. I personally can't though I have visited Bangladesh several times for long durations .Once again I can identify with the Taj Mahal, Red Fort and Qutub Minar in India and I must give India its due for preserving these monuments which make a tourist visit very compelling.

So no... I don't think the UK example is applicable to Pakistani Bangladeshi people to people contact.

You sound like the most ignorant person ever to exist when it comes to the history of South Asia, I am a Bangladeshi American who immigrated to USA during my childhood. I had no interaction with Hindi-Urdu speakers and yet I can converse in Hindi and Urdu perfectly with my Pakistani and Indian friends. Our languages are all interrelated and it is easier for us Bangladeshies to understand Urdu-Hindi due to our shared Indo-European (Indo-Aryan) language family. It is very easier for us to learn and grasp Hindi Urdu than any other languages. Lastly there are many Persians that settled in Bengal during Sultanate of Bengal who also contributed to the rise of Islam and east Bengal (Bangladesh), thus Bengali has high amount of Persian words. Russia is huge country and a whole of Siberia is part of Russia who belongs to completely separate language and cultures and racial group, they are belong to Mongolian linguistic family much like Central Asia and look pretty much Mongloid and yet belong in same nation. Time for this close mindedness to end. Bangladesh is only 2 hours away from Pakistan by flight. Centuries old ties cannot be undone by Kolkata and Sanskrit dominated Bengalism. Bangladeshis identities more with Bangladeshism not Bengalism.
Read my previous post to enlighten yourself, you are acting like we belong in two different planet, grow up:

Bangladesh and Pakistan should have a joint defense fund and should uplift eachother economically by providing taxes for joint defense needs in increasingly hostile South Asia to safeguard and preserve safety and security for its people. I want even India to work with Bangladesh and Pakistan to better the condition of people of South Asia as a whole. Stop with those close minded and ignorant views. Please study economical and geopolitical landscape to enlighten your close mindedness!

I am impressed and deeply appreciate your linguistic flexibility. If it is all the same to you, I have a modest proficiency in Bengali also though the dialects from Chittagong and Sylhet are beyond me. I can and do carry on a reasonably comfortable small talk conversations with Bangladeshis.
You are a notable exception to the rule. Bangladeshis I have interacted with never speak in Hindi/Urdu. In fact I usually start the conversation in English until the other person gently reminds " Jodi mone na koren ...Bangla Kotha bolen"
Forget about Hindi/Urdu, even English is not acceptable in most situations in Dhaka . Kolkata is markedly different though where English fluency is supreme, but then that's a different country. Bangladeshis rightly are proud of their language and culture but that has yet to mature to the levels across the border.
Nations change over time. The Irish while speaking English have no particular reverence for their British cousins. In fact Ireland and UK are far closer than Pakistan and Bangladesh.
I don't see the relevance of the historical context and neither do the South Africans, Australians, New Zealanders with their British cousins.
Pakistan and Bangladesh are even more different than the Irish and the English. We don't have to be in a state of hatred, but just a mutual respect for each other's cultural space. The fact that we are geographically separated makes that easier. We can't enforce a cultural union beyond a certain point.
By the way I live in USA too but that does not give me the right to call anyone names simply because I disagree. I hope you agree at least on this point.
