When you say build are you talking about physique? So was watching the T20 highlights and something just struck me
The modern Pakistani players looked significantly slighter than the English players. This was never the case in the 90s and early 2000s when many 6ft plus Pakistani cricketers would populate the team..Imran Khan,Wasim Akram,Inzamam,Ata ur Rehman,Sohail Taimoor, Mohammed Amir(though recent)
So what happened?
My theory is that the Pakistani build didnot deteriorate. It's just that after the boom of multi-million dollar contracts in the last 10 years, white countries are finally attracting the best physical talents to cricket, which were previously lost to football, rugby union, rugby league and Australian rules football
Thoughts?
PS: This is not meant to be a hate thread but a discussion on anthropology and sports economics among friends
I am very happy with the prominence of Shaheen Afridi, as Indians will finally realize that Western Pakistanis look nowhere near Indians, or are culturally close to Indians in anyways
I am no cricket fan but for it build doesn't matter "skills" do.
As for your question the answer I can come up with is that the people who live in villages seem more physically fit and taller compared to people in the city. It could be the diet, boredom, who knows?
