Its not a question of intellect. As a third party observer....China largely controls oil drilling and fishing in most of the South China Sea. It has secured its claims with a large navy and forward island bases. In multiple standoffs other nations have backed down to China.....including Vietnam. In practice and in practical military terms....China already controls most of the area.
Okay, u still think CN "won" after seeings the map that CN only control 3-4% in Spratly, plus 8% in Paracel, then its your choice.

Not mentioning CN also failed to secure/protect its own Hainan naval base, whatever u think still cant change that PLA is stupid, useless army, not worth fighting against seriously.

I think Xi is scared stiff with our ships surrounding Hai Nan naval base. Xi just try to do some cheap things to save face .

PLAN cant fight in real war without support from daddy US like in 1979

Vietnamese vessels usually gather in southeastern waters of Hainan Island, especially those areas close to the coastlines of Sanya City and Lingshui Li Autonomous County.
As it's known to all, these areas are homes to many naval and air bases.

This map and analysis by the Americans shows how the South China Sea is under Chinese total control. Feel free to come up with valid and constructive counter arguments how foreign powers are keeping China in check in this area.

Your off-topic response means you agree in reality without directly admitting it.

It was a very informative link.

But it doesn't say control.

"it does not say control" and you post some cheap short article from some news site as counter argument against an insightful analysis from CSIS. I did say if anyone can provide valid and well constructive arguments against the analysis go ahead. Instead you just use some garbage news article. How smart, NOT..... therefor i think it must have something to do with food poisoning in Japan, if that is where you are lol

Umm...i generally agree with the OP's assertion. Why? i dont see US mustering anything close to whats necessary to contain CHina in SCS..CHina has ALL the advantages....US isnt even willing to put troops lives at risk to face tough adversaries like Russia, China , Iran and NK..US has shown it is VERY SHY these days to put boots on the ground..which means US is simply patrolling IMO..even when COVID hit..there was an article showing that after the 2 US ACs exited the SCS, US basically had only 4 or 5 ships to patroll the area, PERIOD...China could've swarmed them and drowned them....even US think tank reports suggest that the US would take collosal losses in a battle in the SCS..buuut i expect people like @ F22 raptor to come here and say US is still in FULL CONTROL....
