Has anything changed under the PML-N?

To answer the question posed in the headline, yes, there are changes, both good and bad, but mostly bad. With so much borrowing from national and international resources and a great deal of material and political interest in shiny projects with great visibility, like the metro bus, no one is spared the visuals. Undoubtedly, people will use public transport — it is convenient and cheap. Having an urban public transport system, however, is not the issue under question — we needed it, and will have to expand and build more rapidly than ever before. The issue is regarding which mode of transportation is sustainable, when work on it should be initiated and where.

PML-N gearing up to defend CPEC choices

For countries at the lower stage of economic development and productivity, like Pakistan, the model based on ‘import everything’ — when you are unable to pay for these imports considering the small export base — is not the right one. Except for the steel and gravel, nothing is ‘made in Pakistan’. The more intriguing part of the scheme is the ‘taxi-based’ payment to the Turkish company, meaning the government would pay for every seat, whether it is occupied or vacant, and would further subsidise the cost to make it attractive for commuters.

My point is, we are still far from reaching that stage and with a government at the helm that has a long history of surrendering to organised business interests, symbolised by the tax amnesty scheme, low tax rates, the widening gap between revenues and spending and giving more subsidies in the name of ‘the poor’, schemes like the Metro bus make little sense.

Pakistan’s trade deficit amounts to $11.92 billion

Isn’t it a joke that the country continues to beg from foreign countries, while those sections of society that are affluent, make big money and pay little or no taxes. Instead of netting tax cheats, the government makes laws to legalise their black monies. This has been done several times without there being any visible effect on broadening the tax base. This is a failed strategy of weak leaders, a visionless government and ineffective state institutions.

Another favourite project of the Sharif dynasty is distributing free laptops to students doing well in some examinations to “promote technology”. Is that the route advanced or developing countries have taken to develop information technology? Actually, in some schools in Punjab, I was amazed to see rows of computers in the labs. There is a lot of hardware on display without there being the software or skills to use them. The objective in every major development strategy of the Sharifs seems to be to create some political mileage, show ‘results’ and make people believe that the Sharif dynasty can do better than the Bhutto dynasty. The hired guns in the media and political mouthpieces with lots of connections and power to make illegal money, endlessly defend the dynasties, and when in the presence of chief oligarchs, indulge in flattery. Their mantra seems to be that ‘all is well and you are doing great work for the country’. This is an old song the professional flatterers have always sung.

‘Anti-people policies’: Bilawal Bhutto fires a broadside at PML-N government

You cannot escape all the loud announcements, with there being millions of rupees worth of advertisements in newspapers of mega projects that talk about ‘corridors’ and power plants. My humble submission is, how many of these mega projects have been initiated through our own national resources; are they clean, sustainable and economical; can they make Pakistan competitive? The answers to these questions will not paint a pretty picture.

The world is moving fast towards green technologies. That is where the future of mankind and the planet lies, while our ruling dynasties continue to look for softer, faster, expensive and unsustainable options. Mark my words — this government will leave the country in higher national debt than any other government in our history. This is because it neither has the credibility nor the competence to harness national resources.

PML-N govt hired 1,000 workers in overstaffed PIA

Our failed model of populist politics offers no solution for complex national problems. The rulers lack the courage and wisdom to address foundational issues like education, health, governance, justice, energy and population growth.

it happens when PM and CM level posts occupied by low I.Q people, who are not more capable then local counselor or nazims. They can't foresee the effects what they are doing and dumb enough to waste huge resources on facilities even at that point they fail to focus on basics for example people are dying in Pakistan for various water related diseases and Hepatitis but they build metro instead off providing safe clean water.
Above all Allah imposed leaders on people who deserves them, we are not good and as a punishment we got leaders like that.

.
Yes there are changes and yes this govt has been lacking as well. The issues in Pakistan are so many ( thanks to our two previous govts) that they would drive a person crazy. While they have done well in transportational and energy ( reduction in loadshedding) issues but they have been lacking in health and education. They must combat this as well and bring light and focus towards their. Health card scheme is very good and they should look to expand so that they it can move it towards providing free health care in every , be it private or public, hospital.

The internal revenues have been disappointing as tax collection from the rich has been a failure. Their AMM admi sage tax was your classic tax on the middle as well rich class but it was not necessary as all they have to is collect the tax from the evaders be it rich ,middle or power. They need to streghten the tax sector and collect taxes. This will allow us to use our internal revenues.

Pakistan hasn't had a leader who cared about the national interest since the days of Ayub Khan. Every single leader since that date has been concerned with either their own sectarian or ethnic group's interests. The only thing the Sharif's are interested in is the same...

Each of these sugar-mill tyrants when they seize power (or are installed) has the mind-set typically seen among the incestuous biradri groups who trust nobody except their own relatives. Inevitably capable people from other sects or ethnic groups are held back while these tyrants engage in nepotism and waste billions of dollars in frivolous projects designed solely for the benefit of their own little area of Pakistan.

Mark my Words

For coming election campaign PMLN will use achievements of Military in its own political scoring.......

And they will blame "Dharna" for every failure they suffered in their era no matter what the timeline.

They will complete the construction of projects just before the elections to attract some votes........

A Pathetic approach indeed.......

If they claim dharna is the reason behind failures would not be totally wrong, Dharna causes billions of dollars loss to economy plus bad name to the country. What I.K achieve a marriage just imagine his intellects he is 60 + years old man have young boys but failed to hold himself falling for a beautiful face mother of three a divorcee, he even failed to make successful decision for himself what else we can expect from him. He is delusional personal calling every body corrupt and add the same corrupt lotas in his party, Where is new KPK where is the big difference, what he achieve nothing.

I have no faith left on any political leader PMLN, PTI, PPP all corrupt and failures. We need either presidential system or socialism along with pure technocratic leadership.

PMLN will look to circumstance of that time. If the condition of the party will good they will use the slogan of Pakistan otherwise they will use the pug of Punjab.

Anyways they put blame on any thing they are wasting huge resources on nonsense projects which is very sad thing. We don't need metro specially buses running on specially designed bridges. billions of rupees wasted on laptops and other stupid ideas.

IK's marriage was a blunder. But you're not completely right about Dharna. When PTI was at protest, PML-N was working in Nandipur project. It failed due to Dharna? Hell no.

Failure of PML-N's projects is just because of corruption, mismanagement, poor planning and incompetence. You can criticize IK and PTI all you want for doing dharna but blaming them for failed projects on PML-N is just downright stupidity.
