veritable arm

veritable arm was always my personal favourite......

In Roman mythology, Veritas is the meaning of truth....name was given to daughter of Saturn and the mother of Virtue.

i'd love to tell my ISI officer friends/spooks to keep that in consideration when ISI HQ undergoes the next renovation/mid-life updates.....could make for a good banner at the entrance.

then send a post-card of this veritable arm to Admiral Mullen

There is going to be a complete mop up of these groups from Pakistan. They are Afghans and since now foreign forces are out, they need to fix up their issues themselves. Our best hope would be to disarm them and turn Haqqanis and Hizb-e-Islami into a peaceful political front. Since Afghanistan is no longer communist but a an Islamic Republic (which was one of our objectives) there is no bar on them forming a political front to take part in Afghan politics to work for their ambitions while living in the Afghan framework. If they want to continue their warfare, they need to take it away from our soil. Then it would be them vs Afghan govt and no longer our worry.

I agree with u.. Our best policy with respect to haqqanis ...should be neither support to them.. Nor making enemies out of them...We can only hope..to disarm them and try to convert them to a political front by using whatever leverage or influence we still have over them.. But it cannot be possible at all... If we make enemies out of them...by letting US hit them on our soil.. We should try to convince them to move to Afgh already...through back door negotiation... But not by US drones.. Last thing Pak should want is...to make more enemies..than we alteady have.. And tht too with a relatively Pak friendly group..which has no history against us.... What if...few years down the line...they turn into a political front somehow... But then they also have animosity against Pak? We would have another headache..then? It doesnt seem to be a wise policy And tht too... For US and Afghanistans sake...who have been betraying Pak over the years...and what complaints do we have against haqqanis really? It would have made SOME sense if US had handed over Fazlullah to Pak...then our policy change with respect to haqqanis would still have made some sense..but not now

Haqqanis are sitting pretty. What Horus said was for public consumption.
