If we have get freedom from such engagements imposed on us we will get a chace to unleash our true potential..we are either busy fighting with outsiders or fightin among ourselves. you forgot from 2001-2010 we are engaged with TTP and local terrorist which is almost a full fledged war.

that's why I included this decade too in war times. This all shows that we are on a war from 60 years and this is our progress!

I wonder what development would we see, if there are no wars!!:woot::pakistan:

Happy Defence Day to all Pakistan.

S. A. Bhutto, General Musa, and President Ayub Khan agitated with troops disguised as civilians to start what became the 1965 India Pakistan War. This is a historic fact. It was all about trying to seize by force of arms Kashmir, but began in Dec. 1964 and January, 1965 with small clashes that grew in size episotically in the Rann of Kutch area.

This said, the late US Major General George Ruhlen, USA, Retired, Deceased as Chief of the US Military Advisory Assistance Group, did a great job of equipping the Pakistani Army, Air Force, and Navy. And this largely US, to a lesser extent UK equipped military, did make a good account of itself in the 1965 War. In terms of quality and effectiveness of material Pakistan in fact had the technology edge over India at that time.

Ordinary footsoldiers, sailors, and airmen do not make foreign policy. These brave Pakistanis who gave their lives, other who gave via severe wounds that handicapped them the rest of their natural lives were and are a credit to the patriotism and bravery of the Pakistani military.

The after effect of the 1965 War was that Pakistan moved into the Communist Chinese camp in search of a new major military supplier.

The Treaties which Pakistan had been a founding member party to, SEATO (Southeast Asia Treaty Organization) and CENTO (The Central Asia Treaty Organization) were designed to stop the spread of Communism via an in common defense. S.A. Bhutto, Ayub Khan, and General Musa tried to "use" their treaty memership to have us join in the 1965 War which Pakistan initiated against India.

But on the world scene India was neutral and clearly was not and never will be a Communist hot bed.

The 1965 War whose armistace was in part negotiated by the then USSR as well as the Western powers gave rise to renewed Soviet ambitions to get to southern warm water ports, for Navy bases. This was attempted, but failed, with the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan, which had it succeeded would have included a USSR incursion into both Iran and Pakistan in quest of ports, warm water ports.

I was wounded January 30, 1965 in the Rann of Kutch while on an innocent outing with Paksitani Foreign Office and Pakistan International Airlines friends in a PIA marked with a large Pakistani flag on it's hood. Indian forces were reacting to probes by Pakistani forces all stirred up by false rumors circulated by the USSR Oil and Gas Team that "major oil and natural gas" deposits had been found in the Rann of Kutch.

All the foregoing fed into S. A. Bhutto et al seeking overall to seize by force in the North the balance of Kashmir...an action which was driven by religious segregation aspirations which had led to the creation of Pakistan from the outset in 1947.
