Had you been here in Pakistan you'd realise the hate the people have for Geo and HM now. I can say a healthy 80% plus populace is tired of their antics. The kids i am talking about are staunch democracy workers, who only support civilian rule yet they see through what GEO's intentions are.

That my dear friend is everything this country needed. There is a reason why every other single channel has condemned GEO. If ISI wanted him dead, he's be blown to smithereens with no piece of his body bigger than an inch.

Seen his new statement not he included non state actors and didnt mention ISI. This is going back on your words. Let it play out, the Army made out on top for now.

Everything pans out then, I agree though that without investigation one cannot directly blame anyone, I believe there's a committee that's been formed to investigate this attack.

What evidence has been put forward to support the claim that the ISI is responsible? People should not comment and point fingers before an investigation is done.
Either that OR they have the argument and proof to prove their claims, that's their burden not the ISI's, nor those that support them.

That is why I have always said that the victim has made allegations that need to be investigated. Geo only reported on the victim's allegations as it should as a major media outlet. That is all.

PEMRA has given Geo a 14 day Show Cause Notice and we need to wait for that. The PM has appointed a judicial Tribunal to investigate the attack and we need to wait for that too.

No agency in the world, including the ISI, is infinitely competent and free from errors. To claim otherwise is the stupidity, not my argument.

Aye they need to be investigated, no-one says anything against that. But jumping the gun is poor journalism, geo's conduct was nothing short of shameful.

And I agree, there's a slight possibility that even IF it was ISI, it may have failed. But it was highly unlikely in the first place that ISI is responsible, and then that they should fail. Though this is not enough to let anyone off, EVERYTHING including that, needs to be taken in to account. For Geo to do what they just did was poor journalism, now the question is whether the powers that be decide on whether it was misconduct.

Now, we all need to separate the two events. The attack and what followed in response from Geo are two different stories, muddling them is not right, especially before the necessary investigations take place.

We need to have the maturity, no matter what our personal opinions are on this issue, to wait for the due processes to complete first. Raising tensions or commotion by asking for bans, protests or taking unilateral actions is simply premature at this point, and speaks volumes about how intolerance has seeped into our society at nearly all levels. We also need to realize that reporting is not defamation merely because we do not like it, or that any criticism of the Army or any other State institution rises to the level of being anti-State by definition.

Like I said, a victim of a crime made an allegation and that is being investigated. The MoD has petitioned PEMRA to determine if any violations occurred during coverage of that crime by Geo, and that process is underway. Why the rush to judgement and sanction?

How we handle this incident will speak volumes about Pakistan internationally, and hence we must get it right.

Only thing that was not in Geo's Script was the Reaction of Public , Which made their initial plan go haywire , now the are desperately trying to avoid the backlash which is being thrown at them , people are boycotting Geo & telling the hawkers to change their newspaper subscription , and telling Cable operators to Turn it off .

On the other Hand it was a blessing in disguise for the Army & ISI , their popularity rose to a new level , Today 8/10 are saying Geo should be banned , and that we are with Army .. even PMLN took a hit in popularity when Parvaiz Rasheed made that stupid comment of his without thinking , for which interior ministry is trying to patch things up . and NS met Gen Raheel today so he can explain the behavior of parvaiz rasheed .

the conclusion is..... even today , even after all the things media told , said or presumed people of Pakistan Love their Armed Forces more then the Love their Politicians or anyone else for that matter .
