SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Spokesman of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Hakimullah Mehsud and another Taliban leader Wali-ur-Rehman have been killed in an armed clash erupted during the Tehreek’s Shura meeting, Geo TV reported Saturday.

At the meeting Hakimullah Mehsud was appointed as TTP Chief after the reported killing of Baitullah Mehsud, the state media reported.

The agenda of the meeting was to appoint successor of Baitullah Mehsud, sources said.

I'd be interested in finding out whether any SSG or other covert army operatives had a hand in instigating the gunbattle.

Talibans probably wanted to gain some time due to deadlock in selecting the leader. But this surely solves their problem of selecting Hakim ullah OR Wali ur rahman.
Hopefully thet will continue to breakup into smaller groups . I hope they self destruct.

Does this leave the room wide open for Siraj Haqanni? The Afghan Taliban will take over? I think this is what would happen. With a tame Azmatullah Mehsud taking over for the Mehsud tribe and not vying for the TTP leadership.

They probably killed each other. This Hakimullah Mehsud had a reputation for a brat. He was Baitullah's favorite but Wali ur Rehman was the most experienced.

There is not confirmation of the news and just like the killing of BM in the drone attack, media as usual is spouting BS without anything to back their claim up. Just saw Hamid mir criticizing the media for that.

Not probably because of media is fond of dpreading such news but because our interior minister said that in fighting b/w two groups in shura hakimullah is killed and wali ur rahman is injured
