Since PAC and POF are always in the lime light, the role of Heavy Industries Taxila or HIT must also be acknowledged. Where as PAC caters for the PAF's requirements, HIT plays the same role for Army's Armoured Brigades. Apart from AL-Khalid, it produces and makes a number of other Tanks and Fighting Vehicles.

Apparently it all comes down to the terrain on which particular chassis is more efficient. Pakistan did acquire some of these 8x8 trackers from a Central Asian Republic, but they must n't have proved viable hence they were passed down to the law enforcement agencies.
As for the Command Post Carrier, the name sake and the Stars on the vehicle tell us that it acts like a mini station to maintain contact with the HQ to receive and relay the orders. This one houses a two star General.

They do not disclose the international customer list because they do not have any!!

They tried to sell AL-KHALID to the Malaysians. Failed.

They tried to offer the AL-KHALID to the Turkish. Failed.

They tried to sell both AL-KHALID & the HIT made PAC to the Saudi's. Failed Again!

HIT does not have the money or even the process to send any AL-KHALID or locally made APC to any foreign country for test and trials!! And our Army calls equipment from foreign countries for test and trials on NO-COST, NO-OBLIGATION BASIS!!!

What HIT does not understand that Fauji's and especially 4 or 5 star generals do not make good salesman! They should leave the task to sell their hardware internationally to the experts in the field and should be flexible with their otherwise very rigid financial conditions to accommodate various 'requests' that are necessary to conclude a sale of this nature!!

If POF products can be shifted and displayed on the other side of the Globe and the likes of the Mashaq and K-8 can be flown to Dubai, I am sure arrangements for any potential buyers would be in place for HIT products. Obviously HIT can't compete with the big players but holding IDEAS event is a step in the right direction.

POF demo products can fit into a 8x8x8 ft box that can be air shipped.

Mashaq and K-8 have wings and are flown by PAF pilots accompanied by C130's and mid-way refueling.

To send a Tank for a demo to say Saudi Arabia, Pakistan does not have the airlift capability and it has to hire the Russain heavy lifters, then hire tank transporters at destination, then send a op/ maintenance crew and tools etc to ensure smooth performance at trials. All this costs a LOT of money which even if we had will not be allocated for such a proverbial 'silly' test and trials!!!! Enough Said!

Not quite enough, say even if the planes are flown out to their destinations along with a cargo transport, who pays for the fuels, logistics, maintenance etc. In fact come to think of it footage exists of HIT products being put through their paces in UAE in a programme called "FirePower 2000".
