As the city will grow, it will also create a huge number of employment opportunities for the local as well as for the people hailing from other parts of the country, an official in the ministry said.

Similarly, the per capita income of the citizens of Gwadar city will be around $2000 in 2025 while it will rise to $4000 by 2035. According to the long term forecast, the per capita income of the city will further surge to around $10,000 to $15,000.

    More Job Opportunities
The official further stated that the development of the port, free zone and industrial zones will create huge job opportunities and the employed population is expected to reach 9000 to 12000 in short term, 24000 to 30,000 in the medium term, while 100,000 to 120,000 in the long term. The labor participation is expected to increase and Gwadar will become a productive and efficient city.

The Gwadar master plan was developed back in 2006, but it got delayed due to flaws and lack of interest by the past governments.

However, on August 23 this year, the governing body of the Gwadar Development Authority accorded final approval to the Master Plan while the feasibility study (PC-II) for implementation of Gwadar Smart Port City Master Plan was approved by Balochistan Provincial Development Authority (PDWP) at a total cost of Rs. 300 million on November 13, 2019.

Under the plan, the government is planning to build diversified, prosperous, dynamic, and green industrial system so as to achieve fast economic growth and establish a new engine for the regional economy.

In the short term, Gwadar advantages in fisheries and geographical location will be given advantage, with a focus on its competitive industry.

That's pretty low upto 2035...but I guess good for Pakistanis due to higher USD to PKR rate.

Now this is what I want to hear.

In the short term, Gwadar advantages in fisheries and geographical location will be given advantage, with a focus on its competitive industry.

Nice.

The current GDP of Pakistan is $305 billion. You are saying that it will "increase" to $200 billion in 2050 (30 years from now)?

Since the GDP more than doubled since 2000...it can happen but 30 years is still a very long time for a project that has been hyped up to death and beyond...I was expecting more like 10-20 years....

Up till now and maybe the future too, only the investors are making the real $$$ in the first place...

For example, US ports contribute $5.4 Trillion to the economy.

Wish it bring 400bn

Next 40 years, 91% of the revenue will go to China...while only 9% to Pakistan....guess who gets more share of the 400B for only investing peanuts (in relative comparison)? :D

You did not get the point of my post. I am saying that the title of the Original Post says that the GDP will "cross $200 billion by 2050" whereas the current GDP is 300 billion. it has already crossed 200 billion. It can only increase from 300 billion and not decrease to 200 billion.

The article is saying that the contribution of Gwadar Port into Pak economy will increase to $200 billion.

Oh ok. I predict that Gwadar's contribution would be paltry as compared to the one generated by our local industries and the special economic zones.

91% revenue of GAWADAR port will got China for which they have to bear costs as well whereas 9% of the revenue of Pakistan is free of any cost. We just gave them space and license so its a rental income and not bad.

Furthermore, this is just one company that is handling Gawadar port. and it could be no more than 1 couple of billion dollars. the rest of the amount is from other business which will be earned by anyone who will invest

$200B out of $500B isn't paltry lol.....that's 40% of your GDP, if the GDP is $300B by 2050...which it won't....but yes, $200B is very low at around 2050.

Please provide a source on the "revenue is free of any cost"....there are always costs...they're employing Chinese men for labour...and many other costs.

If they make $10B of revenue with a $1-2B of profit in the next 5 years, their investment in Gwadar will be pay off and the next 5 years will just be profit for them. Whereas we'll only get 9% of that $1-2B profit.

If it was me, I would have at least done it 60-40 or 70-30 in favor of China and not for the next 40 years!!
