Guo Boxiong meets Nepalese defense minister

  Guo Boxiong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, met with the visiting Nepalese Defense Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa in Beijing yesterday.

  Guo Boxiong said there exists traditional friendship between China and Nepal. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries half a century ago, the two countries have all along treated each other as equals and carried out cooperation of mutual benefit. At present, the China-Nepal relationship is on a smooth track of development.

  Guo Boxiong also said that China has consistently adhered to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, respected Nepal's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and supported Nepal's good-neighborly policy of coexisting in amity with her neighboring countries.

  He expressed the hope that Chinese and Nepalese sides would make continual efforts to boost the friendly cooperation between the two countries and two militaries, constantly add new contents to the lasting good-neighborly partnership and make new contributions to the regional peace, stability, development and prosperity.

  Thapa said that Nepal would work closely with the Chinese side to constantly deepen the existing friendly cooperative ties between the two countries and the two militaries and further promote the Nepal-China lasting good-neighborly partnership.

  Those who were present at the meeting included Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of general staff of the PLA, and Tanka Prasad Karki, Nepalese ambassador to China.
