Is there any instance when baloch liberation fighters were arrested and released? I thought that this release priviledge was reserved only for LeJ or LeT or TTP or the likes or in general the sunni groups. Very unlike pak army to release arrested balochs I thought.

Not at all. 7 Coast Guard men were brutally murdered for no rhyme or reason. That is as clear as daylight. Maybe the 7 men were locals, maybe not. But that does not change anything. It was still murder.

I'm glad you have a conscience, I'm only trying to point out how your esteemed 'freedom fighters' might not be all you imagine them to be.

It took BLA r@ts a year to execute another such attack. Talk about how much strength they have in Balochistan against the forces.

Could have been easily avoided if lessons were learned from the previous a year old attack. But alas.

24 at least, militants, gathered to attack the facility and NOBODY noticed them? No cop on the beat thought, "hmm that's peculiar"?? How did they get to the site?? Did they walk?? With their weapons??? Were the weapons stashed near the facility??

Of course no question of any kind of "failure" -- Ramzan, sorry RAMADHAN, is generally known as the killing month for Islamicans and their pimps, but perhaps security personnel should be conscious of this reality and be more vigilant

I am sure that everyone is working to the best of their abilities, training and facilities. Now whether those abilities, training and facilities are enough to meet the challenges, is another question entirely.

Though I know of some so-called "freedom fighters", setting off bombsand gunning down innocent people in another part of the sub-continent. Now who calls them "freedom fighters"?

BLF militants kill 7 coastguards

Quetta - At least seven personnel of Pakistan coastguards were killed and seven others wounded Saturday in an armed attacked by militants in Gwadar. Banned outfit Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) owned the pre-dawn attack, claiming their fighters also picked up two coastguards from the checkpost in Suntsar area, some 100 kilometres from Gwadar.

Balochistan Levies sources said more than a dozen armed men attacked the checkpost with rocket launchers and sophisticated weapons. “As many as seven personnel were killed and seven others sustained critical wounds in the shooting that started early in the morning,” they added. A local tribal police official also confirmed the casualties.

When contacted, Balochistan Home Secretary Captain (r) Akbar Hussain Durrani confirmed the incident and said around 24 insurgents attacked the post. “The attacked checkpost is located close to Iran border and over 14 coastguards personnel were deployed there when the attack came.”

He said a search operation had been launched by the coastguards, Frontier Corps and Balochistan Levies. The deceased and injured were immediately shifted to the Navy Hospital Ormara, from where the bodies would be shifted to Karachi. The dead were identified as Lance Naik Kamran Aslam, and Constables Ali Nawaz, Saifur Rehman, Amir Abbas, Rustam Bilal, Shabir Israr and Abdul Qayyum.

Five of the injured were Naib Subedar Athar Khan, Lance Naik Jalil, and Constables Aftab, Lal Muhammad and Ali Raza. Sources said that Lance Naik Shafiur Rehman and Constable Jango Khan were missing and it was feared that they were kidnapped by militants. They said it is a far-flung area with few sources of communications.

BLF spokesman Gohram Baloch, calling from unspecified location to media offices, claimed responsibility for the attack. He also claimed of killing 25 personnel and taking away two personnel. “BLF fighters got control of the checkpost and seized one vehicle and weapons in a large quantity,” he said, adding that two BLF fighters were also injured in the fighting.

Why doesn't FC intensify operation against Baloch Liberation Terrorists .... The last attack on Coast Guards a year ago was also claimed by BLF ....

Thank God it was not the much hyped Shia death brigade.
