@RescueRanger does prohibited bore make any sense to you?? Ex: in India you can own a bolt action rifle chambered in .30 06 but you cannot own a .308... you cannot get a 7.62 x 39 but by definition .300 AAC Blackout should be legal.....

"Prohibited Bore" is just that: prohibited bore based on some legislation or set of rules. Some of those rules are now archaic, but it was defined somewhat loosely around bores intended for military use. Some of the NPBs were actually bores used for hunting/shikar which was a big thing when these rules were formulated in the days of the British Raj. Hence contradictions.

My understanding of PB is anything used by security establishment becomes pb.

now look at the funny stuff
.38 S&W Long is PB, whereas .38 Special or .357 magnum are NPB (which possess more energy than the 0.38 s&w)

9mm( x 19) luger is PB, whereas .38 ACP is NPB (although lower case pressure, 0.38 is almost as powerfull)

why not let civilians buy what is available internationally, reducing the cost of ammo...

Handguns upto .45cal
Bolt Action Rifles
Semi-Auto .22LR rifles
Semi-Auto Shotguns

PB:

Semi Auto rifles >.22LR

Also note .30-06 caliber rifle bolt action comes under NPB:
