Saddam make big mistakes, him thinking the US would allow taking all those oilfields was a big mistake.
but the military operations were successfull, and the US + 30 other countries came in to save the oilfields in Kuwait and Al Hasa region.
Don't brag about Saudi victories cause there aren't really any, that military did not do anything but run behind the Americans.
The biggest Arab force in 1990 was Egypt against Iraq, Saudis only payed the Americans with their oil.

I was surprised when I heard this but read about how he came into power. He was supported by the Americans/West while his opponent was supported by Russia. The Americans were afraid that Iraq would join a few other Arab states who were friendly and allies to the Soviet Union so they helped but him in power.

For me a person who claims Arab unity and then attacks two Arab countries who supported him loss a lot in my eyes. I have great respect for his last years which is why most Arabs today respect him but in my opinion he had more shortcomings than the opposite.

For me the best Arab ruler in the latest decades was Faisal.

We saw the Iraqi army in 2003 all deserted. Only the resistance afterwards fought the Americans. Most Iraqis were sitting back home and doing nothing because most Iraqis disliked the Saddam regime. This is the reality.

Seriously let them bark. We have friendly ties with nearly every single nation apart from a certain country and their allies. We have experienced tremendous achievements and changes in such a short time and now we have turned into one of the richest, most progressing and most stable areas in a region that is filled with hatred, wars and often misery. I think we can be proud of that and the bashings - as I said - is just a good thing because it means that we are doing good things.

How many countries give scholarships for free to their students in our region? Who has such a high living standard and overall security? I have everything to thank our rulers/government for despite them not being perfect. Let people who never have been to Saudi Arabia or know the country talk about how oppressed we all are and other nonsense.
