Gujarat CM inaugurates world's tallest wind tower

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel today inaugurated the world's tallest hybrid wind tower near Naniber village in Kutch district.

The 120 metre-tall wind tower is installed by Suzlon Energy near the Naniber village, where the company also owns Asia's largest wind farm, whose power generation capacity touched 1000 Mega Watt recently, a Gujarat government press release said .

Speaking on the occasion, Patel said that Gujarat has potential to generate 10,000 MW of electricity from wind power and added that the Gujarat government has given due importance to this sector, which made Gujarat a power-surplus state, the release said.

Patel said that 14 years ago, Gujarat was a power deficient state, since it had only coal and gas-based power plants.

Due to shortage of coal and irregular supply of gas from the Centre, power generation remained affected.

To overcome this situation, Gujarat shifted it's focus to the renewable energy sector due to which Gujarat's total power generation rose from mere a 4,000 MW to 15,000 MW, Patel said.

Pakistan's total capacity is around 23000 MW. Indian capacity is around 260000MW by the end of 2014 with 80000MW more under construction. In 2013 it was 238000MW. I am not not even including the captive power plants which are estimated to be around 40000MW more.

Even though with a massive installed capacity, India still has power cuts. Well its simple, most of our plants are running below their output and many are closed due to financial and coal issues.

During my last visit to Lucknow I noticed how "human" Indians are. They have almost every same problem and issue Pakistanis have. I am historically from a town called Lucknow with places around it and I noticed the problems were the same. Corruption, nepotism, electricity and power generation. They wanted everything the people of Pakistan wanted from pure drinking water to electricity. No one wanted war though one man when he noticed I was a Pakistani lectured me on asking why his goods were so expensive and compared it to Pakistan.

However another problem which we don't have here in Karachi is monkeys climbing up the roofs. Those devils are mean little creatures. One of my cousins pointed a gun to a baby monkey and its mother nearly hacked him to death.

These targets were set by previous govt, under Modi govt, these targets will be blown away. Some large projects have been proposed, and a 35,000 km area of the Thar Desert has been set aside for solar power projects, sufficient to generate 700 to 2,100 gigawatts.
