(AP) -- Pakistani and Saudi officials say men on a motorbike have thrown two grenades at the Saudi Arabian consulate in Karachi, Pakistan's largest city. The grenades exploded but no one was hurt.

The motive for Wednesday's incident was unclear, and there was no claim of responsibility. It came days after Saudi-born al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden was killed in a U.S. raid in northwest Pakistan.

Saudi Arabia, a deeply conservative Muslim nation, stripped bin Laden of citizenship and fought al-Qaida, but money from some of its citizens is believed to help bankroll the al-Qaida terrorist network.

Police official Iqbal Mahmood said one grenade landed just outside the wall and the other inside.

The Saudi deputy foreign minister, Khaled bin Saud bin Khaled, said the explosions caused minor damage.

Some "people" think they are taking revenge ...

Great news! Saudi Arabia has only caused harm to the Muslim world serving as the West's proxy, its Wahabi ideology pervading into Muslim nations gives the West a motive to 'get involved' with the region.

KARACHI, Pakistan, May 11 (UPI) -- Two hand grenades were thrown at the Saudi consulate in Pakistan's largest city of Karachi but no injuries were reported, officials said.

The Wednesday incident may have been a reaction to the killing of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden by U.S. SEALs in Pakistan on May 2, al-Arabiya TV reported.

Saudi Arabia expelled bin Laden in 1991 and later revoked his nationality, and al-Qaida has vowed to avenge bin Laden's death.

Two men on a motorcycle reportedly threw the grenades at the heavily fortified consulate, leaving shrapnel marks on the outer wall, police said.

Security guards at the diplomatic mission opened fire on the attackers but they escaped, a police official said.

More than 4,240 people have died in bomb attacks in Pakistan in the last four years blamed on the Taliban and al-Qaida, al-Arabiya reported.

Why would throwing granade be a good news. It is a matter of Honor for host country to protect foreign consulates.
It does not matter whether they are soudis or some other country, if you accept their consulate on your land, you should protect it.

Let's not get carried away here. Despite their faults, Saudi Arabia is perhaps the single most important foreign country for most Pakistanis. Thousands of Pakistanis need Saudi visas to perform hajj and umra.
