According to French website RadiCocpit.fr, Greek fighter pilot Homere Sipostopoulos allegedly landed his F-16 in Turkey, withdrew money from local ATMs then returned back to base.

Already familiar with the area from frequent training exercises over the Aegean, pilot Sipostopoulos was flying a patrol over the Greek island of Samos when he suddenly changed course and head towards an abandoned airfield in the town of Söke just 3 kilometers away in Turkey’s western province of Aydın.

Upon landing at the airfield, which had once been used for military training flights but had been shut down 15 years ago, the Greek pilot then taxied his plane into one of the dilapidated hangars nearby to hide it.

Exiting his plane, Sipostopoulos then proceeded to Söke city center on foot and withdrew TRY 2,000 (EUR 700) from three different ATMs, each, before heading to the change office and having it all converted to Euros.

Now with over EUR 2,000 on hand, the pilot quickly returned to the hangar and took off, returning back to the Nea Anchialos airfield in Greece.

Can you withdraw 2k Euros from Atm in a day?

Unless OP is trying to be:partay: funny

.
bro... ever heard of radar... ? and threat level airspace !!!!

.
Fake but some people need money immediately, Greeks are one of them today :meeting:

.
if you read the article it said the [pilot went to 3 atms.

this is not being published on major news channels as it would embarrass Europe and turkey .

i'm guessing he flew to low to be detected.
Your statement is nonsense ( obviously) , people in söke even didnt hear about the base, yet in news its telling " 15 years not used " , also there is no information if the base used for F-16s,most probably for training crafts.

Can you really think , you can land F-16 on a unused base ( consider the quality of the path). And do you think, only one pilot is capable of landing and then re-starting the jet , take it off from an airfield that he doesnt know anything about.

And now you continue to defend an "alleged" new by saying " europe and turkey hide that, or it will be shame" .

Low altitude fly? Check geographics of aydın province :)

This new has been to ekşisözlük,an open-share website , people from söke has stated that, they are even unaware of the existince of airfield, yet it is not capable of jets .

You seem so much to believe the news,so i begin with you . Also the source you have given at 1st isnt BBC , but some other website. In my opinion BBC took that website as reference. Its another thing to took as reference, but it is a huge matter to believe such stupid news :)

. .
Greece should sell its F-16 to Turkey to pay of their debt!

oi, the bbc is a very good new organisation it's a public company owned by the people. i am sorry. if your knickers are in a twist, if such news hurts (true or not) i couldn't care less about your opinion. so stick your aggressive comments where the sun don't shine.
You didn't get this from BBC news. No serious news outlet would cover gossip.
i did get it from bbc news. i was going to add a link but it seems its not there any more. but i was able to find where the link where thebbc got the info from.

yes because i would not want to make stuff up incase i offend any one

yes i know thats where i originally found out

i have removed negative rating ,i used to think it was a deserved, but you made your point clear. If you want to debate ,make it obvious. a debate isnt made by defending an uncreditable source, but inviting people by telling something like this ;
" guys there is such a new published, any possibility it is true? ,or false?".

Unfortunately,we were debating as you expected and initiated and you tagged me as patriotic, bafoon just because i was showing the facts about why the content news can not be true, and why it is fake.

Defending against some people who tries to show Armed forces of my country as humiliated with a fake new, isnt a patriotic act. It is humiliation when a humiliating new is supported while it is fake. If you have claimed he is landed with a glider ,i would consider to debate.

completely fake, no sane pilot would ever risk a jet fuel starter with compressed air in hostile territory.
