Greek military jet crashes in Aegean

Here is the current info we have here in Athens.

A HAF Mirage 2000-5 fighter plane crashed before landing nine miles northeast of Skyros.

A large search and rescue operation is currently underway, while Navy ships have been ordered to rush to the area. In particular, taking part in the operations are S-70B HN helicopters, HAF helicopter assets (AS332 Super Puma SAR helicopters) HCG vessel sailing from Molyvos in Lesvos.

The fate of the aircraft pilot is not known, signal from the aircraft was lost at around 12:15 EEST.

According to information, the Mirage 2000-5 was one of two fighters of the same type who were in an interception mission, and signal from the aircraft was lost while it was returning to base. Sources say that this is probably not a hostile action.
