Greece has decided to buy SPIKE NLOS systems for the Army and Navy.

When it comes to the Army,they will be used by vehicles and helicopters,probably Apache.

We're trying to upgrade the Armed Forces. The majority of the crisis governments neglected the army so much.

Our navy was left behind the last 10-12 years,while the Turks were making ships and submarines like crazy. We don't have any modern IFVs and MRAPs and we only have a few UAVs.

We are getting:

• 24 Rafale F3R
• 24 new fighter jets of an uknown type
• 3+1 FDI HN frigates and 3+1 Gowind corvettes (corvettes still under negotiation)
• SPIKE NLOS for the Navy and Land Forces (to be put on Apache attack helicopters and vehicles)
• Upgrading the Apache AH-64A+ by Elbit
• Upgrading 84 F-16s to F-16Vs
• 1200 M1117 Guardian
• 44 DM2A4 torpedoes for the Type 214 submarines
• Upgrading 38 F-16 Block 50 to F-16 Block 50+ Adv. from the components of F-16s that are going to be upgraded to F-16V

We also got some 70 Kiowa Warrior helicopters 3-4 years ago and might be buying some Romeo ASW helicopters as well as 10 M-346 jets

That will give Greece a pretty nice capability boost. The Air Force is going to be a solid with the upgrade.

A couple of years ago,the Americans were going to give us Arleigh Burkes in discount. But eventually they decided they wanted them and said they could give us Ticonderogas instead. Then they offered the MMSC for our new frigate program. The competitors were:

1.The French with the Belharra with initially La Fayette class frigates as intermediate solution,but then changed to the

Georges Leygues-class

that was to be retired. Later changed to Gowind
2.The Dutch with a modified Sigma 11515 HN and Karel Doorman or Sigma 10415 as intermediate solution
3.The Italians with the Bergamini class FREMM
4.The British with the Arrowhead 140 and Type 23 as intermediate solution
5.The Americans with the MMSC

The Spanish offered their F-110 and the Germans the A200 or A300 while also offering us two Type 214 submarines.
They were both rejected early. The Germans mostly because of their pro-Turkish stance during the provocations the last 2-3 years and their support for Erdogan.

The last time we ordered new frigates was in 1988 or 1989 with the MEKO 200HN with the first coming in 1992. They were some of the best frigates in the world at the time.

Pakistan too is upgrading it's navy after some time I think and that's very good. A strong Navy to defend the shore and especially Karachi is needed.
