SWAT: A father and son emerged successful after 12 years of experiments in manufacturing a 10,000-horse power plant that would produce 10 megawatts of electricity. A mechanical engineer, who worked in Saudi Arabia and Karachi in Mercedes car assembling factories for about 35 years, and his son Ikram Shah succeeded in manufacturing the plant at a cost of Rs70,000. The plant could be mounted in 60x60 feet area. Talking to media, the father and son said pollution could be controlled to a maximum extent with use of the plant, which could run for about 80 hours with 20 litres of fuel.

This is what we need, more initiative by private SME. The design could become a model for small villages.

yes very nice job but price is high i hope they control that in future

The problem is that Government of Pakistan doesn’t care about these achievements I hope that they will appreciate and own this project for the larger benefits of Country.

sir i read 700.000 in news

Here's the news from a reliable soure, APP:

Father, son manufacture ten thousand horse power plant to produce 10 MG electricity

SWAT, April 26 (APP) :Father and son emerge successful after twelve years of experiment in manufacturing a ten thousand horse power plant that would produce ten (10) Mega Watt electricity.

According to our correspondent, a Mechanical Engineer by profession and
his son Ikram Shah succeeded in manufacturing a 10,000 horse power plant at a cost of Rs.70,000 after twelve years experiment. The power plant could be mounted on 60x60 feet area. He has worked in Saudi Arabia and Karachi in Mercedes car assembly factories for about 35 years.

Talking to newsmen both father and son told that with the use of plant, pollution would controlled to a maximum extent. They said that the plant could run for about eighty (80) hours with twenty (20) liters fuel.

They also disclosed that they have manufactured four and a half horse
power engine at a cost of Rs.100,000 which could run with onetwozero (120))
kilometers per hour speed. It could carry fourteen (14) persons and its weight
is fourteen monds. It’s consumption in the hilly areas is ten (10) kilometers per
liter while it is 20-25 in the plan areas.

They expressed the confidence that if backed by the government, they could bring revolution in the world of technology as they could produce sixty (60) such cars in the market for Rs.180,000 a car.

So what is the point of doing this if the price of oil is going to be $200 a barrel in a couple of years? Maybe they should have tried making a generator and an engine that produces electricity out of cow manure, vegetable oil, charbi or something else which is still dirt cheap in pakistan and also produced in pakistan.

But not to sound too negative, it sounds like they did a very efficient engineering job. I am surprised no more technical details are available. Why aren't they available since this is such a rare triumph for a pakistani engineer, nobody wants to know any more technical details?

I would go with 700,000 rs. But still a steal.

Its cheaper than a lot of small cars in Pakistan.

Actually you hear about this kind of stuff all the time. Unfortunately there has been no organization in Pakistan that guides these people and helps them establish theri products.

If true, it is remarkable.

Congratulations to the duo. If they can operationalize and scale it well, it could be valuable in rural areas.

Such talents are waisted in our counrty by not providing them with actual assistance that maybe required to gain out of their work.

“Economic growth, coupled with good governance, may yet prove to be a source of solutions rather than problems". Unless foresight and intelligence are applied to the satisfaction of these people's needs, peoples may embrace the filthiest life.

Only a well governed reform approach can fully grasp the complexity of the political, social, technological, ecological and economic systems that underlie poverty.

Good Governance can only be improved to help the common citizen, by giving access to quality social services like education, health, job generation, curbing price hike, combating illegal redundancies, and curbing lavish spendings in civil and military establishments as ostentious causes great resentment amongst the teeming millions.
We pledge to promote and practice simplicity, at all levels.

Our main problem is the unavailabilty of Good Governanace!:tsk::tsk::tsk:

Unfortunatly, we don’t have any single “Leader”, but have bunch of elites from feudal, capitalists, Retd: civil & forces bureaucrats as politicians, who doesn’t care about nation their massive problems, nor ready to think to facilitate talents for developments of peoples, if they do then how and from where they can earn heavy commissions???
we may all observed or experienced well yet that, theses elites play politics with public enjoy heavy perks and packages, utilize state’s finance for their own interests and many more male practices which we all nation knows well. Here is a current instance of misuse of power and corruption, as you may also have seen the news regarding the smuggling of wheat done by Rao Mazhar Haiyat khan MNA PML-N, when his loaded trollies caught by food department, he went their with his staff and tortured the departmental peoples and snatched back his trollies, and then after when the secretary food phoned to police station instructed them to register case, but even then what drama they played every one have seen who was watching TV at evening 24th April 2008.
