What's new

Govt's university fee changes mean humanities students will pay the entire cost of their degree

if the HR departments of companies weren't agents of exploitative managements the socialist groups wouldn't need to have union groups.

A company exists to make profit. A worker is employed by the company to do a job which will help the company make profit. If the worker cant do the job he is hired for then he shall be fired. if he finds the work timing or pay not good he is free to resign and work somewhere else. No one is forcing him to work. Why then should a union be there?

You are again going around in circles. I asked what is their contribution, other than be field agents for microfinance companies and be producers of useless, complicated graphs via PowerPoint presentation ?

The very fact that you think that IIT IIM graduates do these things shows how shallow your knowledge is.

BTW here is a list of notable alumni from just one IIT and one IIM

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Institute_of_Technology_Kharagpur#Notable_alumni

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_IIM_Bangalore_alumni

I am sure you will recognize many names and companies on the list.

Collectively alumni of IITs and IIMs run companies which employ millions of people around the globe.

Tell me how many people are employed by companies run by JNU alumni?

And for the record - the farmer who committed suicide after taking a loan from SKS Microfinance was at best a fool and at worst a fraud.

Why did he take a loan if he could not repay it? Why should the company suffer a loss because of the incompetence of the farmer? The company did not put a gun on his head asking him to take a loan. once he took a loan it was his obligation to repay it

So a company can "make profit" over the the tears of its workers ?

That is why I said you would have made a wonderful feudal lord in the olden days. Or a munim of one.

I know the computing course curriculum of IIT Kharagpur. It is good.

But Pradeep Khosla is over-rated.

I recognize companies. I understood one thing here. If a IIM student has an idea or gets inspired by an external Idea ( like Amazon, Uber etc ) he can use the IIM tag as a foot in the door to get funding to start a company. This clearly is nepotism.

@Cliftonite @Naofumi @Bilal9, how does one answer to that ?

Humanities group students should study as private candidates. I don't think anyone needs teacher to study civics history socialogy etc

It is criminal to offer these subjects as majors for degrees. These are just hobbies.

You should consider that the company may have misled him into doing this foolishness. You know sweet talk the farmer into doing the blunder. Poor people like peasants and farmers are gullible.

If they are degraded to hobbies, then you will have dumb chutiyas like P.N. Oak and many on this forum too revising history anyway they like. Same with other types of data.

LoL I have put Charminar for sale for these types of people.

Tomorrow, we will have degrees on how to post of Social media or how to eat food.

Is that the only measurement of knowledge? That's what I said, commodification of knowledge is the problem.
@Shantanu_Left @jamahir This is what I want the Indian Goverment to also do.Make humanities degrees expensive and this will steer more students towards STEM while at the same time reducing the JNU Jamia type nonsense. This is killing 2 birds with one stone.

I am sorry. Humanities degrees have no job prospects and no large benefits to the society. How many History, Geography teachers you want? What about rest of the students? They get jobs like being servers at McDonalds.

Mind you, I am not saying that the job is not important. I am just saying that do you need a 3 or 4 year degree subsidized by tax payers to be able to ask "Do you want fries with your burger?"

Even the education minister- an arts graduate is saying

Mr Tehan said up until now, engineers and scientists had been subsidising arts graduates.

Now arts graduates would need to start "thinking about the employment outcomes that they are going to get from their degree", he said.

"When I did my arts degree, looking back, I wish that I had done a language," Mr Tehan said.

"It nearly cost me the opportunity of getting a job."
