Govt’s foreign borrowing soars to $9.5b in 11 months

i agree withyou that they performed bad in increasing exports but there are many reasons behind this, the world has greatly changed in past few years and many products have become obsolete due to emergence of new products and change in technology as well as automation and new ways of doing business but our industrialists are also responsible for this along with govt as they not improved and changed their products with time to meet customer demands and tastes which have changed greatly.
Stop misrepresenting facts for once in your life, they had plenty of time to do that.
Forget about increasing the exports, they literally decreased Exports by a big margin and Pakistan was the only country in this region to reduce their exports over time.

This happened because they only favored their own people and didn't do anything for the benefit of the country.
Even during Jali Bhutto's time (Zardari) the Exports volume increased and back then the world was going through recession.
And I've been hearing about those SEZ from a long time and they did have time to make them, but instead they chose to develop Orange line by taking a $2 Billion loan from China. I'm not against Metro but in my opinion they must be developed by using local resources and yes this includes the Peshawar BRT, which again is being developed by taking a foreign loan.

You started asking questions for free.

If I am earning over $100K/Annum as consultant (That also not being in US, Canada & Europe) then I guess I have already passed all preliminary qualifications.

Questions are from current affairs.... answers are known to all public.
You must be in to bounty hunting business, instead of consultancy.

No problem ..Every successor government takes loan at highest rate like PML-N and now PTI..PTI has right to do whatever it deems fit as public voted for them

Writing lines is meaning less.... Present govt. is dishonest and it is proved on daily basis.
Any one who believe Imran Khan or his ministers is living in fools paradise.
Previous borrowings were spent on projects, why those projects are not made operational or are being sold before they come into operation?

Trying to be neutral here. I wished all governments of Pakistan would do good for country. Now the truth, no one wants to buy loss making companies. In 2008 we had a chance to sell a profitable PSM, but after court drama, it stayed public property. Then ppp deliberately drove into the ground, massive corruption. Pmln had little choice to close it down, ask yourself why no one wants to buy it. Its better offload profitable government businesses, reducing possibility of subsidising the companies when they start making a loss.

You can criticize them for whatever you want but this is such biased reporting.
From day one they have been saying, our total Current Account Deficit was close to $19 Billion when PTI came into power. Now after 10 Months it has been reduced to around $12 Billion.

Now can anyone explain where were they suppose to get those Dollars from.
They couldn't just start printing them.

This is the gift given by PMLN to this nation, when they took power in 2013 CAD was around $2 Billion and they left it at $19 Billion. In 2013 exports were $24 Billion and in 2018 they were reduced to $20 Billion.

And for your information Nawaz Sharif said before elections in 2013, that he would take the exports to $100 Billion.
You can find the video on Youtube.

Are you still in 6th form? After reading your posts i am wondering how do you budget your household expenses. :hang3:

Where is this money gone $9.5 Billion and what about zakat/chanda/Hadeeya received from Gulf?

can someone please tell these Pakistani leaders that these are LOANS!!!

and have to paid back, its NOT A GRANT

they take loans like its free money for crying out loud there is interest on these

yet we always go for loan after loan

I wish people would stop arguing. PTI supporters are acting as if the current govt is from Mars. Other than Imran Khan and Murad Saeed every single clown in the cabinet was a PPP/MQM/ANP/PMLN clown in a prior life. So when you say Nawaz Shareef did this or that you're talking about a govt whose members are now in the ruling party. NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

Furthermore, the reasons behind the balooning loans is actually really simple...since the days of Zia our economy has gone downhill. To keep things afloat we run to the IMF every few years and get new loans. Those loans are then used to pay off old loans. Then we take new loans to do other things. Then the cycle repeats but every time its with more accumulated loans plus interest on top of new loans. So PMLN didn't steal anything nor did PPP and nor will PTI. Its just old debt plus interest plus new debt to pay for the new crap we need to keep things afloat.

As to why we can't export anything....have you been to Pakistan? From the minute you land someone is lying to you/stealing from you/bothering you. How can one do business in this environment. Furthermore, how many of us have relatives living in Pakistan who actually have a skill? Who do u expect to make those things for export? Your dadi?

Pakistan needs massive structural reforms. Govt size needs to be cut, state owned entities need to be sold/wrapped up or scrapped. Govt has to focus like a laser on making farms more productive with less reources, maximizing local production of what we consume, nurture the already present export industries and help them outcompete bangladesh/vietnam/india, and setup expert training centers to perpare people who can go abroad and send home money with the skills that will allow them to find jobs overseas.

Very simple things need to be done. But sadly, our clown govt is more concerned with punishing people who were kicked out of office and making 1 am addresses to the nation.
