The Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) has numerous high-tech, innovative and creative projects, and programs ready to launch in the near future.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives (MPDSI) Asad Umar chaired a meeting with the Federal Minister for Science and Technology (MST) Fawad Chaudhry to discuss the PSDP projects carried out by the MST. Secretary Planning, Secretary Railways, and senior officials also participated in the meeting.

Fawad Chaudhary informed that his ministry has a number of high-tech, innovative and creative projects and programs in the pipeline to be launched in near future. These interventions are related to modes of commutation, research & development, and technical education, etc. Asad Umar appreciated the efforts and ideas of the MST.
He also shared the proposal of raising the standards of government’s schools through the idea of STEMS (Science Technology Engineering and Maths Schools) in which the syllabus will also be converted into Lab Language.
He said that the purpose of making STEM schools is to enhance the quality of education imparted to the children. He said that the Ministry would want to start with around 90 schools and scale-up based on financing available for the projects. A formal project proposal would be presented for approval soon.

Minister for Science & Technology informed that NUTECH under the ministry is working on developing an unmanned railway project. Minister for Planning directed the Ministry of Railway and NUTECH to work together and prepare the project to be executed with the collaboration of the private sector.
Asad Umar said that the cost of all such major initiatives should be estimated and then a summary should be prepared. Prioritized projects/interventions should be furnished to the Planning Ministry for further decisions.

Make English teaching compulsory from elementary school till PhD. Basically, since English is the language of the modern world, Pakistani students must have a strong command of the English language in order to compete globally.

Also, make critical thinking and STEM compulsory from elementary school till completion of high school. Open internship opportunities for Pakistani high school students at public and private institutions. Pay them small salary. The skills and perspectives they gain will serve them well in their future endeavors.

Rather than placing the hope on everyone being able to study science in English, Pakistan should endeavor to urduize its curriculum. Science can be taught in Urdu an should be, because that's the language of the masses.

Anglocentric curriculum only benefits the elites.

In my opinion, this is a very narrow way of thinking. If you teach everyone English and educate them on latest knowledge skills, than you are rendering the current feudal elite irrelevant.

The intellectual capital in Pakistan isn’t robust enough nor geared for scientific research in Urdu. These Pakistani students wouldn’t be competing and working with Urdu speakers, they will be dealing with global peers that speak English. It’s better that they master the language.

The problem with the Muslim world has been that they have fixated on superficial pride like language to undermine themselves. English is the language of science, economics, medicine and research. Why shouldn’t Pakistani students master it?

Those that deny students this language are truly undermining the future of their countries.

How many modern Urdu books have been translated to other language due to the quality of their research or the information they hold? I would wager none.

If love for Urdu is the motivation, than an Urdu class can be made mandatory every class from elementary school to high school. But all other subjects should be in English.

English should be taught as a language not as a subject mere bahi when I used to study in Pakistan English was taught as a subject and it was projected as if it was the only thing we should know...

Teach Urdu and English as languages... with a third language as a choice (regional Punjabi Pashto Saraiki Balach Mirpuri Sindhi or any other regional language)

Teach Pakistan Studies and Islamic Studies but widen the scope..

And advance maths more.. we already have a advanced maths at school leve as compared to EU.. but advance it more bring it to lower classes...

Start teaching ICT on lower lever for f*ck sake and not this is mouse and this is keyboard like proper ICT...
