Govt Mandates Use of Plastic Wrapping in Airports

The government seems to be countering its anti-polythene initiatives by introducing what many called ‘bizarre’ baggage rules at the country’s airport.

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCCA) has issued a notification on July 18th making it mandatory for all the check-in baggage to be wrapped with plastic sheets.

According to the notification, the baggage of all domestic and international passengers will be plastic-wrapped before going to the scanning counters of Airport Security Force (ASF), Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and Customs.

The notification available with ProPakistani mentioned that price for the wrapping will be charged Rs. 50 per bag and it will be effective immediately

I think someone blindly following Jeddah airport where this year they made it compulsory for the baggage to be wrapped (however their rule was it should be wrapped by a machine - as many people were buying large rolls and wrapping multiple baggage (cheaper) than that at the airport!...1 good would be that people cant slip things in or out of the baggage as some smugglers usually do...yes it has happened to my dad's baggage a few yrs back..

Well, money for 2 dams is on agenda...so no he might not finish it as it takes time, but he has initiated it (previous govt initiated it and so far it is on going)

There's a difference in wrapping baggage and hand baggage.
People must take care of their hand baggage, there are repeated announcements about it at every airport.

I was confused with the picture, where 2 passengers are carrying poorly wrapped carry-on baggage.
