NEW DELHI (BNS): India is focused on the development and modernisation of its Armed Forces and the proceeding is moving in fast pace, government said.

"The modernisation is undertaken through procurement of defence equipment/platforms in accordance with the provisions of Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP)," Defence Minister AK Antony said in Rajya sabha on Wednesday.

Modernisation of the Armed Forces is a continuous process based on threat perception, operational challenges, technological changes and available resources, he added.

However, delays sometimes occur in defence procurement projects due to several reasons such as insufficient and limited vendor base, non conformity of the offers to the Request for Proposal (RFP) conditions, field trials, complexities in contract negotiations, limited indigenous capability and long lead time for indigenization etc, he said.

All procurements for defence sector are guided by the Indian Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) and the time-lines are given therein.

I mean just look at the lie. A**hole didn't signed any major deal for indian army. IA needs modernization in every field like MBTs, Helicopters, artillery, SAM, ATGM and even basic infantry stuffs like BP jackets, helmets, guns etc. I mean if he closes P75I and MMRCA before congress terms completes, i will say the guy worked even though it was only for a few days.

well he is doing a very good job. I mean with so much happening, nobody is even worried about defence. Only sometimes defence comes on news channels but mostly it looks a movie.
