10 injured in 2 bombs near Indian cricket stadium | 6abc.com | 6abc.com

Two small bombs exploded Saturday outside a cricket stadium in southern India shortly before a match was about to start, police said, injuring 10 people and setting off panic among fans.

The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore is hosting a game between the home team, Bangalore Royal Challengers, and the Mumbai Indians, as part of the popular Indian Premier League tournament.

The city police commissioner told reporters that four officers and a security guard were among the wounded. The guard's injuries were serious.

"It appears that some explosives may have been hidden in the wall" next to a gate leading to the stadium, said Shankar Bidari, whose comments were broadcast on several news channels. "The explosives weren't powerful."

It's a myth that India is safe.

Strawman arguments.... The fact of the matter is that the Indian govt. is able to provide enough security cover to international sportsmen to make them feel secure. The feeling in international community is that the Pakistani establishment is in cohoots with terrorists.

Which sane minded sportsperson of a high profile sport would want to risk their life by trusting the Pakistani govt.?

The security situation for cricket in India is just as bad as it is in Pakistan, & links prove that. Tell me, besides the 2009 shooting incident, what other incident has taken place against cricketers in Pakistan?

Again, we are talking about cricketers, not cricket viewing public. Big difference.

Secondly, have you forgotten Zulqarnain Haider? If a Pakistani cricketer is unwilling to play in Pakistan, why should foreign cricketers play there?

India played a T20 game against Pakistan in Karachi in 2006. Bangladesh played Pakistan in Pakistan in 2008 I believe. Pakistan played a football game against Palestine in Karachi as well. There have been other international events from other sports in recent times, I'm not good at keeping track of them.

Zulqarnain Haider tried to act smart by acting out a farcical situation in an attempt to get asylum (& UK citizenship) right after the spot-fixing incidents in England. But he failed miserably.
