Government approves Rs 1 billion for promotion of IT in KP
PESHAWAR (January 07, 2011) : The Khyber Pakthunkhwa government has approved Rs one billion for initiation of IT projects to promote science and technology in the province, Minister for Science and Technology Muhammad Ayub Khan said on Thursday.
"Initial work on establishment of two IT parks has been started and private companies would be encouraged and facilitated for making investment in these mega projects," he said while addressing awards among IT graduates of Directorate of Information Technology here on Thursday.
Due to these mega projects, software industry would be promoted in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and will create investment opportunities besides creating jobs.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister stressed students to concentrate on their studies and equip themselves with ornament of education with special focus on science and technology.
To compete with developed countries, the minister said, modern education and science & technology is a must for which all segments of the society should come forward by playing active role in order to spread rays of education in every nook and corner of the province including FATA.
He said the government was giving special focus on science and technology in the province and Rs one billion has been approved for initiation of new IT projects in the province.
Up till now, as many as 120 graduates have been trained while batch of 60 graduates is being trained at IT Excellence Centre. Later, the minister distributed certificates and awards among students.
