Gorkha Regiment Among Worlds best elite military units

There is no way to accurately compare military units, especially over a long period of history. The most famous units, and the ones considered the greatest are usually the ones that have seen the most action in wars...it is wrong then to penalize elite units that don't occupy regions of the world hell bent on fighting wars.
Often times, the main difference between military units are the people in charge, who come up with the strategies to fight.

. .
In the military the "standard" is battle tested. This does not demean other units who don't see or whose purpose never was to be in battle, various background support units.

there are only good officers i thought and the behaviour and perfomance depends on its officers

This type of thought is useful for a peasant conscript army like that of former Soviet Union...But if you want a professional army one should encourage initiative even from the lowest rank and not wait for each and every order from the officer.

Also what use is a good officer if he don 't have dedicated and skilled jawans to execute his order.

arey i was just taking some pride cause my father is in jat regiment. but see, i am no where related to kumaun regiment but i still say they r the best, cause they r the best. credit should be given where it is due.

I know Swati. Jus kidding.

Where is the Madras regiment in the list?

Where are the warriors who captured entire Sri Lanka and South East Asia through their Navy alone ?

In the US military my saying is that any officer, junior or senior, is only as good as the "Senior sleeves" who work with him. As a new Second Lieutenant, USAF I depended in Pakistan, overseas, for much day to day management by my USAF Master Sergeant. In my reservist end of 31 years active and reserve duty career I depended on the Command Chief Master Sergeant.

In the US Navy of course your Senior Sleeves are Master Chief and Senior Chief Petty Officers.

Concur completely in your opinion here.

I was saying that in the context of the IA which is an officer heavy army.I can't speak for other armies

Jawan (from Persian Jawan or Javān, meaning "young") refers to a young man in Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, and Punjabi. It can also refer to a "donkey" in the Bengali language. In the Indian subcontinent, it has additionally taken on the reference to an infantryman, and is used in much the same meaning as soldier in English. This term is specific to all ranks below that of a Commissioned Officer, primarily used in the armed forces of India and Pakistan.

I was comparing our Non Commissioned Officers, NCOs, to your Jawans, who are your equivalent of our NCOs. The above defintion sounds like a US NCO and an Indian or Pakistani Jawan are comparable ranks.

.
sir even iam saying about NCO's.I have seen US NCO's discussing in other online fora they are superb and can take decisions more independently in the abrence of their CO

.
compared to Indian subedhars.I think this is also reflected in how IA applies its snipers in war they are specificaly instructed to take out Coss on rite I think
