Google’s Schmidt Still Chasing China Ambitions

.
I know a LOT of mainlanders, and not once have I ever heard even a single one of them complain about this.

Don't take my word on it, ask them yourself. There are plenty of them here on this forum.

As for "why"... it is because Hong Kong is a special autonomous region. This was under the deal we made, when we returned to the mainland.

Ah fair enough, but do the mainlanders know about these freedom that Hong Kong gets?

Anyways I guess you Hongkongers got yourself a good deal. You guys just agreed on the good things that China had to offer. :enjoy:

China's economy is in transition.
After transition over, China will crack down on piracy, because we will benefit from R&D-type economy.
No more than 10 years, China will soon lose illegal-copy-king seat.

I hope that India will not become illegal-copy-king seat's successor. :coffee:

Buddy, I would have given up a LOT more, just to return to the mainland.

In fact I am even thinking about moving to the mainland myself one of these days.

And yes, the people in the mainland are very much aware of this. You can ask them if you want, they are already in this thread.

Thanks buddy.

Otherwise I was going to give you a hypothetical example, like imagine if Mumbai was governed by the British, or something like that lol.

It was a condition that we signed due to the British and the elites of Hong Kong. Everyone knew about this in 1985.

Hong Kong is a special place. Residents of Hong Kong I think aren't allowed to serve in the military, other than that they manage their own affairs mostly. The difference is now that there's no national border and people can pass relatively freely between Hong Kong and Shenzhen though permanent residency in Hong Kong is limited to 42500 people per year.

:coffee: Chinese people can freely access Hong Kong. As long as you have a Chinese ID card, you can apply a "Hong Kong passes." That is a very easy thing.

My "Hong Kong passes":

Ultimately I believe the China government believes the people in HK are well aware of the world situation to make good decisions despite the news from biased sources or unjust reviews on China's policies.

The same cannot be said about China's entire population and rather risk civil unrest the need to restrict such information is needed, also the middle income earners are on whole usually satisfied to leave political issues alone but the same cannot be said about the lower income earners.

This is not true and a common misconception. We have negative news on our policies all the time. I can get over the wall with a proxy easily. Take Youtube. It was avaliable in 2005-2006. Then it got blocked. Why? Because of racism from Taiwan towards mainlanders. Don't believe me? Go to any video about Chinese military, half the comments are from Taiwan/Japanese/American posters being racist towards the mainland and the other half are mainland fighting back.

This is just like black slaves in the US trying to protect their children from white man's racism, but the children can see through it. After all, being the targets of racism doesn't fit with the CPC's "harmonious society" message.

Actually when I meant entire population I was referring to the ill informed parts which can easily lead to undesired actions, of course I am aware that most of the information choke points can be by passed easily but typically the people who know how to do that are well educated enough to make a informed decision and also are less prone to cause political issues.
