Civilizations rise and fall, the west led the development in the world for the past couples of hundred years and now is declining like all the predominant predessesors in the past, what's about it surprised you?

What one ahieved in the past doesn't make them stay on top forever, this is a simple logic. Western powers conquered the world with gunpower, which was invented by the Chinese, but China declined from top notch power to oblivion 2 or 3 hundred years ago, it was also quite normal, what goes up must come down.
Everything is relative.
Can you name a Chinese philosopher in the modern age? Don't name Confucius, he is not from modern era. Yes, China declined and West led the world, including China, into the modern world.
China declined too in the modern history, which is mentioned already. No one stays on the top forever, all countries have their turns to go up and come down in the human history.
West had declined in what Westerners call the 'Dark Age' when the Catholic church had near total control over the intellect of Westerners.
And now it's declining again, see their share of the global economy shrinks year on year, so do with patents and scientific papers.
West is not declining. China is catching up to the modern age which the West created.
This is called relative declining, it doesn't mean US has to be like Afghanistan, but it could be overtaken economically first and other sector after it. actually US had already been overtaken by China in trade, exports, manufacturing, major industries, shipping...which US had dominated for over a century.
Production of goods like robots is not the only hallmark of civilization. How about this?
