Global food prices may go by up to 50%: UNDP report

Bro I am also son of farmer & all I know is they buy cheap from us & sell em very costly, it`s killing farmers as well as consumers..
I concur with you, the basic mentality of the consumers is also the issue.
when tomato price falls down, the consumer can buy 10 kgs for 20 rs in some period of a year, yet the consumer(our ladies) bargain and try to reduce the price further.
They never think of the real value of growing crops, they don't see the losses incured by some one to give the product at that price.
when a fixed price commodity like cinema, car, and other luxary item they just pay with out any questions asked.

Second important thing is the salary raise in India and other parts of the world is makeing the situation more worse.
When a software guy earns 1 lac per month and has a heavy spending capacity, the same kind of spending capacity is expected from a labour too. this are some of the bad policies of the government.

I guess Middleman don't have anything within his hand. He is just working day and night as a slave to earn his living ...its the IMF, world bank and the US federal reserve that controls everything...they screwed us up big time stuckup under their artificially created debt on us....:smokin:

"You know how I define the economic and social classes in this country? The upper class keeps all of the money, pays none of the taxes. The middle class pays all of the taxes, does all of the work. The poor are there... just to scare the 5h-1t out of the middle class. Keep 'em showing up at those jobs." George Carlin.

Taxation and their rates differ from country to country and hence it is a subjective comment

South Asians wont be hit too hard if global shortage of food prices occur as South Asian in general is more or less self sufficient in food production. Countries which rely on importing food can expect a very very bad time.

Please google who George Carlin was, and you might get my point. :D
you are 100% right, this same concept I read in "Rich Dad Poor Dad" a book by Robert Kioskey.
The rich know how to evade tax and accumulate money, the middle class go in the viscious cycle of earn and pay the earning as tax.
The poor, they just depend on the middle class. and are being exploited by the poleticians in the name of false promise and they are not ready to work for them self and belive in the false promises for the last 64 years since both India and Pakistan got its independance

I strongly disagree there, most of the farmers do not want their children to take farming as a carrer, this is because of the Governments screwed up priorities in putting the corporate owners first and puting the farmers demands last.
Even they accuir farmers land for 1/4th the market value for Corporate owners to build their industries and buildings

Middle man and those who hoard commodities are the key people behind the issue
