Adverse environmental factors are expected to drive up world food prices by up to 30-50 per cent in the coming decades, the latest United Nation’s Human Development Report has warned.

Food production must rise to meet the demands of growing populations, but the combined environmental effects of land degradation, water scarcity and climate change will restrict supply, the report says adding that income poverty and malnutrition could worsen if the prices of key staples rise.

Now this must be a big concern for a common men like us... instead of big gage tanks & super duper planes..

Aw shucks! I better stock up on eggs. :undecided:

Seriously, it's not just the cost of food but soon we'll have to buy water too, which would in the coming decades be costlier than petrol!

Yes! absolutely right cuz we poor countries shold first think about the poor pplz then do something different.....:smokin:

bos.. our iranian friend is making a refernce to Americans, who eat too much are obese and also like you said waste a lot

USA produces more than TWENTY times its own needs for food, to feed the rest of the world. Think about that for a moment before going down this track.

if population of us 300 million, 20 times that is 6 billion which is around the earths (7B) population. that means all food produced in all other countries is surplus and food prices will be very very cheap. But thats not the case .. Why?

WTH salary increase hgo nhi rahi or food price increase hoti ja rahi hai damn:angry:

All that food is not grown for free is it? It takes a lot of resources to produce food, and most countries have local tarriffs to protect local production. For example, Japan taxes foreign rice at OVER 700%.

Bro I am also son of farmer & all I know is they buy cheap from us & sell em very costly, it`s killing farmers as well as consumers..
you are right .......... middle man is responsible for price hike ....... if we somehow manage to have control on middle men then the food prices may fall back to almost 50%
