there is no way in hell Iran agreed to that.

the UK was willing to release the grace 1 on those terms on day 1 before Iranian counter pressure. If Iran agrees to this, it is basically saying it accepts a UK Veto on its legitimate shipping trade. completely absurd.

The UK was ready to release it because it realized it was put into a trap by Bolton. The US made last minute appeals to keep it detained. Iran responded by immidiatly arresting 2 british Iranian "acedemics" (spies). Essentially telling the UK they are ready to escalate even more.

The UK finally came to their good senses. saw what a stupid trap the US was laying for them and released the tanker.

I don't think the grace 1 will go to Syria. as Iran and the UK could have probably made an agreement to that effect to let Britain save a little face. but future Iranian shipments going thru will not be touched. guaranteed.

This ship was only seized because for some reason it entered Spanish/EU/British waters when it didn't need to (possible sabotage/incompetence). So future shipments to Syria of course can continue (but will take many months each time to go around Africa).

That's the face saving agreement I mentioned.. this particular ship wont go to Syria, but other ships after this will not be touched...

the whole point of this UK/Bolton act was to try and bully Iran into stop giving oil to Syria. there is no way in hell Iran would ever agree to something like that.

not having this ship go immidiatly to Syria upon its release (and pretty much laughing in the face of the british) would have been humiliation for the sake of humiliation.... Iran has already won strategically.

The target wasn't oil to Syria but a beginning of imposing embargo on Iranian oil tanker and cargo ships on international waters.

Iran changed the name of the ship to "Adrian Darya-1" it now fly iranian flag.
And Iran said we dont want to send a flotilla to Gibraltar but if we had to we send one to escort the ship.

Under local regulations that ship could not be confiscated so Gibraltar changed its rules 36 hours prior to the Iranian tanker going to its ports:

Good news finally.....it's amazing, how many losses Bolton/Pompeo (or maybe I should say Kushner/Netanyahu) have suffered. They've failed in Venezuela, They've failed in Syria and Afghanistan, they've failed in the EU to isolate Iran, they've failed in Yemen, they've failed in the trade war with China. Historian will use these as proof bullying/unilateralism will not produce the intended result for them. Lastly the biggest defeat is yet to come when they weaponized the Dollar, the world woke up to this danger, and has made strides to knock down the Dollar as the world's trade default currency, this will be last nail in the coffin.
