. . . . .
Prophet Muhammad saws ate them in military campaigns and encouraged Muslims to eat them as well. There are authentic hadith about it.

It also serves a practical purpose. Locusts come in plagues which devour all plant life in a given area, causing famine. Therefore, catching and eating locusts reduces famine.

Today most Arabs view them as a healthy, protein-rich food and consume them as a delicacy.
Interesting. I just learned something new. Would you be able to provide the relevant hadith?

. .
Ibn Abi Awfa (Allah be pleased with him) was asked concerning the consuming of a locust and he said: “I fought with the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) in six or seven battles, and we used to eat it (locust) with him. “ (Sunan Abu Dawud, no: 3806)

Sahih Hadith.

Enjoy! Bottoms up!
@Desert Fox

Oh my god! I actually own a pet iguana, so ILL NEVER going to eat lizard in my whole entire life. Ill rather bought that lizard in that pics and then kept him as a pet instead of eating it.

Lizards are not halal. This is just a Persian stereotype of Arabs.
