Pakistani national cricket team's horrible performance at the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy is uncharacteristic for a side widely regarded by experts as one of the most talented in the world. The losses have unleashed a torrent of anger in Pakistan with demands for heads at PCB to roll yet again.

For some in Pakistan, the understandable anger has turned into total insanity. For example, former Pakistani cricketer Aamer Suhail has laid the entire blame at the feet of Imran Khan who led Pakistan to its sole victory in ICC World Cup in 1992.

It's unfortunate that Pakistan's losses at international cricket competitions do not force a sober assessment of the team's strengths and weaknesses. Rather, the so-called "experts" resort to self-serving analyses.

In my view, a dispassionate review of the team's record would bring out the following:

1. Pakistan's bowling attack is among the most potent in the world and it should be maintained and enhanced.

2. Pakistan's batting is among the weakest in the world and it needs serious improvement.

3. Pakistani players, particularly its batting line-up, collapse under pressure.

The best way to move forward is to do the following:

1. Hire a world-class batting coach who has a track record as a super batsman but also knows how to coach a young side. This search for such a coach needs to be world-wide and selection done in a professional manner.

2. Bring on board a world-renowned sports psychologist to increase mental toughness and improve the overall temperament and tenacity of the players to perform well under pressure. The anger for the loss should not be directed against individual players. Instead, the passion should be channelized to improve the effectiveness of the team as a cohesive unit.

Well batting is the main weakness for sure but there is also a serious lack of senior established players who can handle pressure situations and mentor the newer players.

Wonder how many coaches were there in each team when the greats of cricket like Bradman, viv, Gavaskar etc played in the glorious past history of cricket? - most probably just one or none.

Dave Whatmore is not bad at all. He has done wonders with Sri Lankan Team. Pakistan had good batting coaches in the past as well for ex. Bob Woolmer, Geoff Lawson. Almost same boys but nothing substanial has changed. Instead of a coach Pakistan need a disciplined team. They seems to be more interested in doing politics inside the team rather than lifting their game.

Well nothing good can be expected from the current PCB because this current PCB is filled with incompetent mental people like Iqbal Qasim, Intekhab Alam, Javed Miandad & Zaka Ashraf as well. All the four coaches were appointed by mental Intikhab Alam, I really don't get it what was & is the role of Dave Whatmore in the coaches? Bowling coach is there, batting coach was hired for few days & fielding coach was there, WTF really man. This only shows that PCB is filled with incompetent people who are harming Pakistan cricket.

In my opinion Pakistan needs a Good batting coach, good bowling coach & a good fielding coach, there should be no head coach or 4 coaches.

For batting coach role I would love to see Mat Hayden or Saeed Anwar for bowling coach I would like to see Wasim Akram or Shoaib Akhtar (I have heard & read good about Ian Pont but I don't know him well) & for fielding coach anybody who is good in it but definitely not a local coach.

PCB should be run by educated people who understand & love cricket not politics or PCB should be run by recently retired cricketers & not by old dying dogs like Intikhab Alam & Iqbal Qasim etc.
