Great news. President Trump should follow suit and ban US military sales to Turkey.

Germans have had a soft spot for Turks, Pakistanis too, but sadly times are changing.

This isn't about business leaders lobbying the government it has alot to do with perceptions of Turks and it's government.

Criticisms against freedom of speech by Turkey hasn't helped.

and once again their problem with turkey is not freedom of speech , freedom of speech was not given by any military coup we had in the past..specially when lots of ppl disappeared.. they didn't even smell any poo.. their problem is they want to have the style of relation I mentioned earlier.. and they do not want (and this is a real problem for them) Muslims .. ppl can blinden themselves or act as if it is not so.. this is a proven fact.. this is reality

Germany's cutting arms sales to Turkey boosts our defense firms, Turkish FM says

German counterpart, Sigmar Gabriel, who said Sept. 11 that Berlin was putting most arms exports to Turkey “on hold” due to recent bilateral tensions.

“These kinds of approaches actually cause the strengthening of our own defense industry,” Çavuşoğlu told a joint press conference in Ankara with his visiting Pakistani counterpart, Khawaja Muhammad Asif.

“In this sense we increase national and local production in all areas. We produce our own fighter jets and helicopters. Turkey is never desperate,” he added.

Sales by top Turkish arms companies rose by more than 10 percent in 2015, according to an analysis released last December which also put Turkey’s ASELSAN and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) among the world’s top 100 arms firms.

Turkish defense and aviation industry exports to Germany alone rose 17 percent year-on-year in the first eight months of 2017, the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) announced last week.

Turkey plans to use only locally designed defense industry technology by 2020, Ismail Demir, undersecretary for the Defense Industry, had told state-run Anadolu Agency in June.

Çavusoğlu called Gabriel his “friend,” but said his approach ill-suited the foreign minister of a country on the eve of general elections.

“We understand they started with 30 percent in the polls and now his party’s support fell to 22 percent. But I’m not responsible for this. He’s responsible for it, he was the head of the party until recently,” he said.

Gabriel’s Social Democratic Party (SPD) is a partner in the Angela Merkel-led Christian Democratic Union (CDU) coalition government.

Çavuşoğlu said Gabriel cannot win more votes by condemning Turkey. He also praised German Chancellor Merkel’s remarks on Sept. 12 opposing a blanket ban on arms exports to Turkey.

“We find Merkel’s approach correct and more mature. Acting in good sense even in an election atmosphere is our duty,” he said.

Merkel, whose CDU is leading in the polls, has been under growing pressure by its main rival the Social Democrats and opposition parties to sharpen its tone toward Turkey, due to recent political tensions.

Look at Pakistan's example, constantly being embargoed...they ended up making jets/tanks/missiles all at home with the most challenging budget.
Soon to come 5th gen jets made at home which most EU countries can't even dream of doing.

You have money and good industrial base which will easily become self reliant in all areas.

Turkey and UK partnered on the 5th gen jet fighter program.

I think Germany is upset Turkey working with UK will make German economy weaker.

Don't forget all the UAV's made in Turkey we got several UAV's even armed ones and EU countries are way behind in this field as well.

Turkey is having some kind of a revolution, economy, military, tech... We will pass Germany in the near future.

Huh ......but they freely let in over 1million mostly Muslim refugees(with social benefits paid for by the tax payer) in their country without any checks per se , something even other European countries were against(especially such a high number without checks) and they have been forcing other European countries to take in more Muslim refugees as well.
So I'm confused now, seems Merkel's Germany is more anti-Islam than I thought then?.
