Germany looks to ban Huawei from 5G

Germany is looking at how to stop the use of Huawei products in the build of its 5G network, making it the latest western country to clamp down on the company over mounting security concerns.

The German government is considering introducing security requirements for 5G, the next generation of mobile communications, that would be harder for Huawei to meet. The initiative was first reported by the German daily Handelsblatt.


A statement from the economics ministry said the security of the future 5G network and the safety of products offered by different telecommunications suppliers was “highly relevant” for the German government, and it would be “guided” by such concerns in its buildout of the network.


But it also stressed that no decision had yet been taken on concrete measures. The German move came at a time when the US has been actively lobbying countries to ban Huawei from developing 5G mobile phone networks on national security grounds, arguing that its technology can be used by the Chinese government for spying or cyber attacks.

One source suggest China is third largest trading partner to Germany. That is not a fraction. Stop using language to hide facts.

This one suggests China is Germany's main trading partner which must include economic co-operations.

What exactly is the meaning of only a fraction? 99/100 is also only a fraction. China maybe 20% for Germany? I don't want to spend time finding out but that is a BIG fraction hahaha. If your boss tell you your pay is tomorrow cut by 20% you will also think haha that's okay... Germany will of course go to side of USA like most of western European countries. This is assumed. There is no surprise. This list really will only ever grow until something happens to become more favourable to China. It will only get worse for now. But China cannot do nothing either. Basically the Western powers want to make China poor. That also means Chinese consumers have less money to spend on Western goods. Of course that doesn't mean death to Western corporations at all but it will slow them down also as their economies are slowed down when they are tied to China.
