Lol if you learn to read, the article explicitly mentions that Nawaz confronted the men behind the event. And his ministers have come forward and confirmed. Now please point to where you found out that army is backing Imran Khan, because the truth is, the whole event was done to get Raheel sharif fired so military takes over and sends Topples Nawaz regime.

Anyway, Nawaz does not want to pursue cases against military, especially while we are in midst of a war. He is no where near Imran that he will want a commission for everything and dance atop container regularly.

Pasha wanted Musharraf and Imran together but immi had too much ego and said he will win by himself (remember mush saying he wanted 100 or so seats in assembly because that's his popularity back in post 2002 election).

Also the generals were going to use Imran as diaper. They were going to make him play the event as if Raheel was behind the event, which would make Nawaz Fire Raheel, then general Zaheer will take over and make Imran in interim govt. And we all know what the army does when they help someone win election. They wanted to use Imran popularity to make Nawaz Fire Raheel.

There is some talk about an audio tape where Zaheer is telling some generals what Raheel had said and when confronted, Raheel asks "did I say this" and he said no. Then Raheel asks him to leave.

If Nawaz fears losing 2018 election, unlikely, he may bring the tape out. Sometimes you've to play dirty politics to win (read Clinton nowadays). If the tapes are released now, people will forget them in 2018.

The problem is, we are in a state of war. Second, see Musharraf case. Army isn't happy and the case isn't going anywhere. Getting more cases open against army will show as if Nawaz wants to settle score with the army. He could have fired Zaheer back in 2014, but again, that just means picking up a fight.

Nawaz has won the battle clearly. Imran can't touch him right now. So why bother picking another fight with army? That was whole point of dharna, Nawaz picks a fight with army and then his govt gets toppled.

The most Nawaz can do is bring shame to such army men. And it has already happened. Even if he pursue the case, they won't be going to jail. Besides, these ex generals still have contact in the army and many sympathizers. Just because Raheel is apolitical doesn't mean entire army is too. What if next COAS is political? This was the case in 90s. After the general was fired by Nawaz, he accepted it and didn't let his followers topple Nawaz regime. But then when Nawaz tried to fire Musharraf, he got toppled.

General Zaheer thought that like the 90s, Nawaz will pick a fight with army. He will think Raheel is behind the dharna (there is a recording of a call where Zaheer is telling generals what Raheel had told him, but it never happened). So when Nawaz fires Raheel, the army will takeover and topple Nawaz.

But why Fire Raheel?

Kayani wanted pasha to serve extra term as ISI chief. But Gilani refused. So Kayani picked Zaheer. The top few generals were given as a list for next COAS. Raheel was from a department that usually doesn't produce COAS and Kayani didn't wish him to become one. Thus Nawaz picked Raheel, to go against Raheel. Also he didn't make the top 2 other generals COAS, who were also a pick of Kayani and neither did he make Zaheer.

Then when Hamid Mir was attacked and govt sided with Geo, it pissed Zaheer off and then the whole dharna talk started where Imran was led to believe that military will topple Nawaz and he was told he needed dead bodies. Failure of Imran, he was then told to attack parliament, again not producing dead bodies.

Raheel had said the army will protect state institutions, so when PTV was attacked and there were army insiders found in there, Raheel found out that someone was helping PTI out.

Then Nawaz had produced an audio tape to Raheel , courtesy of IB which works for govt and has tried in past to prevent coup as well, where Zaheer is found telling other generals something Raheel told him. Raheel calls Zaheer and plays tape. Asks him did I say it, and Zaheer says no. Then he asks him to leave. Raheel finds out that the intention of dharna was not to have Nawaz toppled, but Raheel fired, so army could intervene.

Back in 98, Nawaz fired a COAS. He was apolitical so he did not allow army to topple Nawaz. So Zaheer thought he will make same mistake he made 3 times in 90s, Fire the COAS. Since Raheel was apolitical, he needed to be gotten rid off, because like jehangir karamat, he did not allow coup, but Musharraf did. So using Raheel as an excuse, Zaheer and some corps commander/generals would topple Nawaz regime, call new election and maybe give PTI interim govt.

Now you may ask: Why doesn't Nawaz open commission then?

Answer: Zaheer wanted Nawaz to pick a fight with army. Nawaz learned from his mistake in the 90s, hence he did not even Fire Zaheer after audio tape back in August/September. Now that the battle is won, why fight the army? There are still followers of Zaheer, Kayani and Pasha left who may topple govt one day. Besides, even if commission is formed, will these generals go to jail? Look at Musharraf, he's untouchable, despite being out of army for over 8 years. Generals that retired so recently are bound to have even more sympathizers/followers.

This article says the same thing I've been telling you guys since the sit in drama started. Gen. Raheel is a GREAT guy. He understands why Pakistan's been screwed over the past 60 years and that's primarily because of the military rule. He's the real man of honor with an extremely sharp mind. He's been supporting NS since the first time NS talked to him when those sit ins started.

I appreciate this guy's patriotism. He did ask NS one thing and those of you, who haven't seen my posts on this topic or have known it through other means, would be impressed by what he asked. The only thing he asked NS was to give him a promise that he would take the country forward economically and will turn the tide in his turn, of where Pakistan was just three years ago, and how it would look like in 2018 when NS leave. In return, NS asked if the general could clean up the terrorism mess all the way as he needed a political and socially stable environment to grow the country. The gentleman said he'll go to the last man to free the country from evil terrorists, so that the country can become peaceful and business and economy could start to boom. From my knowledge, this was a history turning discussions between an Army Chief (aka the military) and NS. From what I know, is that the first part of the discussion lasted for about 12 minutes around the sit ins and Gen. Zaheer's situaiton. Then, these disappeared and the country, its economy and growth took over the remainder of the discussion. Since this discussion, the Army Chief, blind eye supports NS.

In a country like Pakistan with such a strong history of military rule, Gen. Raheel is absolutely commendable. If Pakistan can get three more of these Army chiefs (For the next 15 years), Pakistan will for sure be right underneath or right above Australia, from an economy's standpoint, with one of the fastest growing democracies on the map.
