ISLAMABAD: In an interesting development, former ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Ahmad Shuja Pasha has sought an inquiry into the veracity of the allegations involving him in the London Plan and the anti-government 2014 sit-ins, it has been learnt.
Sources said that Gen Pasha had approached the authorities concerned with the request that an inquiry be held into the matter to determine whether or not he had any role in the making of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) or in last year’s sit-ins.
These sources said that Gen Pasha believed that he was being wrongly maligned by certain politicians and the media. It is said that Pasha has offered himself for accountability and is prepared to defend his role even as DG ISI.
The sources said that Pasha wanted to clear his name and prove all those wrong who had involved him in the 2014 anti-government sit-ins or in the creation and strengthening of the PTI. It is said that Pasha also wants to confront all his accusers, mostly associated with the ruling PML-N and some in the media.
Pasha has been accused of using his muscles as the ISI chief to the benefit of the PTI. After his retirement, he was accused of conspiring against the government through the 2014 sit-ins.
Privatisation Commission Chairman Mohammad Zubair, who is the brother of PTI’s Asad Umar, had said in an interview that when he was not in politics and was part of the corporate world, Gen Pasha met some people of the corporate world and asked them to join the PTI. Zubair said he was also one of the participants of that meeting. He said the PTI sit-in was backed by Gen Pasha.
A few weeks back, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif named Gen (retd) Zaheer and Gen (retd) Pasha being the two actors behind the 2014 sit-ins. After the defence minister’s statement, demands are being made by different political leaders to get the issue probed and fix the responsibility.
Initially, it was Altaf Hussain and Javed Hashmi who had demanded this but later no less a person than Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said a commission, comprising leaders of parliamentary parties should be constituted to probe who did what in the 2014 anti-government sit-ins.
Of late, PTI leader Imran Khan, whose party is alleged to have played into the hands of some disgruntled elements of the establishment to destabilise the PML-N government, also sought an inquiry into the matter.
Khan said were he the prime minister, he would have ordered an inquiry against the general for destabilising his government. However, the government is not keen to pursue the matter to avoid a fresh controversy that may cause a mistrust between the civil and military authorities.
Sources said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was advised in 2014 to proceed against the then DG ISI Lt Gen (retd) Zaheer but he showed considerable restraint despite having been given some “solid information” about the alleged involvement of Zaheer in the anti-government political agitation. As against Zaheer, Pasha was a retired military officer in 2014.

And just two nights ago, entire Pakistani media dragged their names to hell......and without even present an evidence, just chinese whisper...I just hope & pray his name is cleared from all this filth.....then all Journos i.e Najam Sethi, Hamid mir, Arshed should apologize to him......

I support Gen Pasha decision , Just like any other individual, Gen Pasha have every right to ask for an inquiry and if proved that he got nothing to do with PTI then repent, punish those who accused him..

.
Our media should be held accountable for statements they make which are not factual. There are limits and channels like Geo have over stepped them repeatedly with disdain for any law. There should be a real inquiry and those anchors/channels involved in maligning sitting or retired army officers should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. They sit in their cosy chairs talking about people who have dedicated their lives to the country.

the problem is Retired Generals have become easy fodder for these people, as when in power they are even afraid of their shit, and don't even say their names or name the organization......and anyone whose out of office certainly become the perpetrator

.
Allegations on security institution must be cleared, otherwise N-league will continue to play foul.

1) he knows govt won't open commission, so him asking govt makes his name clear. He's gambling.

Or

2) He didn't do it. But there will be other stuff that will come forward. Some people have said that while Pasha was general, he'd ask people to join PTI.

Pasha can do politics since its over 2 years, so he can't be held accountable. He can support dharna by any means.

Bravo!!

Now the ball is in PTI's court, they've been asking for an inquiry into this allegation for quite some time. Time to do something practical and shut the filthy mouths noonie tunes once and for all.

These noonies have been doing this for ages, they blame others out of no where and then easily get away with it. Time to grab them by their balls.

They will just talk i am 101% sure no one have the balls to form a commission to probe all this, but as stated above the media is equally responsible for this mindset, lets not forget that their are a lot of people with us who are Anti Army for various reasons, unless we get rid of this mindset these kinda allegations will keep on floating, we can partly blame few in Security Establishment also for this mess/mindset, history tells us that men in uniform have used politicians.... but now times are changing Credit must be given to Gen Raheel for his balanced approached, as he is very well aware that a confrontation will harm the very existence of Pakistan at this critical junction, i always pray that the same sense prevails @ politician leadership

Get yourself updated. Your second point has been refuted several times in recent talk shows. Several PML-N officials, including main accuser i.e. Zubair Umer has accepted in a live show that there isn't any proof behind this allegation.

So if PML says something, it becomes true?

Need to know because then I have things to share which are said by PTI members. They must be true as well, right?

Bottom line: pasha name has been around for years. Why it took him now to ask for this?

He has a nice cushy job. Pretty sure he does not want to jeopardize that, by getting involved in Pakistani politics.

Yea, it has become a norm to bark at retired generals. Why they are talking all this now? And why they are afraid of taking pasha to court or form a commission to probe into this?

PML N in retards basically have tried to commit suicide and this insult will not go unanswered I am pretty sure our beloved PM Nawaz may end up in Jail lot before 2018. NAB now has backing of Army and its opening all those cases which were either not investigated or poorly investigated on political pressures. As we all know How Nawaz made his money their are lot of chances he may end up in jail along with several main leaders of parties like PPP and MQM and ANP.

Sir Army is also responsible for this when they keep tolerating these corrupt Mafias like PML N and PPP and traitors like ANP and MQM this is what you get in return. No matter How much you serve Pakistan this kind of humiliation will be only given in return. So Army this time needs to extend operation Zarb e Azb not just to militant groups but also these parties and pretty much their entire leadership, and bring back the black money they have sent outside of Pakistan. @balixd

I do wonder about above comments as i support only Pakistan no NS no Imran ,no Generals (Except for Raheel Shareef ) as there are pretty solid evidence provided by IB of recordings of ISI officials during dharna giving instructions, these audio tapes are even given to Raheel Shareef apparently who has asked for Gen Zaheer for explanation where Gen Zaheer admitted about its role and clears Raheel Shareef names by saying he was on his own .Regarding Pasha I dont know how much role he has played but current ISI cheif of that time apparently was involved.

I think this is a serious matter and Gen Shareef should do this quietly and swiftly keeping the decorum of institituion and eliminate these variables
