Giving up on trying to install a "friendly" Afghan government is a huge change in policy that would suggest that the Army may be giving up support of its preferred factions within Afghanistan, if true.
However, Pakistan cannot assume that a government installed in Kabul after 2014 will be friendly towards Pakistan. How can the leaders forget that that the only country to oppose Pakistan's entry into the United Nations in 1947 will still try to reach arrangements with India and not Pakistan, unless Pakistan continues to try and ensure that it is able to install its own "friendlies" in Kabul after 2014?
These two statements do not mesh well with each other at all.
