I've always said there would be an endgame and this would be it. Now we can only hope that the Afghan government and former Northern Alliance sees sense and complies with negotiated demands of the Taliban and negotiates further in earnest. They have the example of what happened to DRA's Najubullh government shortly after the Soviets left, to motivate them to find a political settlement. Also, Pakistan's internal position on Afghanistan for almost two decades has been vindicated.

It's only a matter of time now.
Ghani lost the day he lost support of Dustam. The same way Najib lost when he stopped paying his Uzbek protectors.

Americans have been extending him and his Indian well wishers the rope for quite some time but he don't listen.
Amurallah could never replace what Dostum brought to the table.

Dostum is a crazy warlord responsible for several mass murders. Taliban will deal with that fool in due time. The time of Northern Alliance influence in Kabul is over. The Pashtun politicians in Kabul need to strike a deal with the Taliban, constrain the influence of NA and reposition Afghanistan foreign policy.

It is foolish of anyone in Kabul thinking that befriending India will bring more benefit than allying with Pakistan. After all, we share a huge border with Pakistan, we share religion, we share culture and our economy is critically dependent on Pakistan. Closer integration with Pakistan will allow for considerable economic development in the border area between the two countries and will positively affect the lives of many millions.
