What's new

GDP per capita of every district in South Asia

Can you take a look at Gujrat or Indian Punjab. Care to tell me why they are comparatively dark but Bihar is lit like a Christmas tree?

Gujarat business centers lyes on south of Gujarat like Ahmedabad,Baroda etc and so more brighter in southern part.Non brigthness does not mean that that area is underdeveloped or remote, but also means that there are large farms, forest, mountains etc, where human habitant is comparitively less compared to other places.Look at kerala it looks dark but that does not mean that kerala is an under developed state.Kerala has very thick vegetations, which obstruct light while taking satellite image. The road density of kerala is very high compared to other indian states(Almost 3 times more density). In bihar,UP that may not be the case...

India is ranked 139th in per capita GDP and Pakistan rank in the world is 144 according to GDP nominal, in purchasing power parity, the difference is minuscule, Pakistan was ahead of India in both nominal and PPP GDP till 2006(nominal) and 2008(PPP).

Pakistan is doing better in some sectors and India is doing better in some sectors, the reason Pakistan matches with India in GDP per capita otherwise the difference would be huge like Indo-China has this discrepancy.

China economy is 5 times bigger than India and its per capita GDP is also 5 times bigger than India, the difference is stark when India starts comparing with China.

P.S: Pakistan population is just 15% of India's population.

Which sector pakistan doing better than India? US is much better than China, so what is your point !

You should be ashamed that the most impoverished country in the world is spending millions on 'space missions'.

Great countries like UAE understand the importance of space program and so they are working with ISRO, but not pakistan.

The list of past launches isn't what matters. What matters is the list of future, scheduled launches.

ISRO is a government organisation and so fund coming from govt and not totally depends on commercial satellite launches and so the income...Also ISRO also busy launching Indian satellites and so not worried much about SpaceX

The same rationale with even more finesse can be delivered on Pakistan. For instance do you know that the entire population of Balochistan is not that much more than one of the larger cities of Gujrat? And have you seen the size of Balochistan?

I know. The stupid Pakistani got side tracked into such mundane things as building flushing toilets for their people instead of leaving their women to poop on the streets whilst India looks up to Mars.

Does this make sense??? I was not aware that Bihar is the Silicon Valley of India ???

Check this...

Look at some other satellite images to get the whole picture, here(the pic below) Pakistan is looking fine, and China is looking less developed(if lights has some relevance with development), as the eastern and south east side of China is developed and populated, so the moral of the story is satellite imagery can be deceptive and can be perceived as different.

Its as simple as that, no population, underdevelopment and so no 'BIJLI'. In rajasthan desert same, few spots means towns/cities in that area and rest pure desert.

Pakistan's military industrial base is better than India's: Gen Sarath Chand

Read the full article, military industrial complex encompasses a whole lot of industrial entities and cannot be developed in isolation.

https://www.dawn.com/news/1347774

I can cite you dozens of other sectors where Pakistan is doing better than India...

This is not truth India has private companies like TATA,Ashok leyland,Mahindra and even Reliance started defense industry.Pakistan does not have any known local company capable to well known in defense industry and totally depends on China for each and every major projects. Actually speaking defense is a confidential subject and so not be shared in news media,so normal people cannot able to know the real ground reality.Indian approach like US approach and in future defense industry will be dominated by private players in India like US right now.India is itself building Aircraft carrier, which pakistan never even dream about, let alone building or financing one. Many US/European companies likely to share their technology under procurement process, means we are not just a customer but also ToT.Do you know that EU banned major defense deal with China !

It is just one comment man. There is no scale to compare both. The General might have commented from his perception.

There is no dozen industries which are comparable to India. It's nothing bad, provided you are still having troubles like India but worse (such as HDI, literacy and unemployment) wrt India.

While the general industrial base of India compared to Pakistan is strong and hence the FDI inflows are also higher compared to Pakistan.

Military Industrial complex cannot determine your total Industrial story.

Sarath Chand is the VCOAS, his observation and statement is more important than any other person in India, regarding military industrial complex, whole book, military inc.(Ayesha Siddiqa) is written about the prowess of Pak military industrial complex( some negative connotations here as well), but that adds to the strength here.

Indian middle class is 24 million, not 264 million: Credit Suisse

http://www.business-standard.com/ar...264-million-credit-suisse-115102900181_1.html

Google search, India middle class is about 3% of India's total population, Pakistan middle class is about 7% of Pak total population.

KARACHI:

Pakistan’s middle class consists of over 6.27 million people, according to Credit Suisse, a global financial services company.

-Pakistan CNG sector is many a times more developed than India, more environment friendly as well, Pak ranks 1st or 2nd in the world in the number of vehicles running on CNG, about 7 million or more vehicles runs on CNG.

https://www.dawn.com/news/633775

-The total length of natural gas pipeline in Pakistan is about 10,000 kms and in India it is about 11,000 kms, compare with population and land size.

Natural gas consumption India
52.1 billion cu m (2014 est.)

Nartural gas consumption Pakistan.
42.02 billion cu m (2014 est.)

So Pak with just 15% of India population consumes slightly less natural gas than India.

No, he is actually a low ranking man in order of precedence in India. As India is not a military state. Even considering the number of Generals he is one in many.

as on 2007 there are 190 Lt Generals in Indian army. Let that sink in for a moment.
Even if his statement is taken to face value, he only speaks for Armed forces,

There is navy and Air force. Now just Imagine his comments. And see the comparisons.

No, he is actually a low ranking man in order of precedence in India.

He is vice chief of army staff(VCOAS) number two ranking in Indian army...even others has acknowledges that fact.

this is what he said...

"Pakistan probably has a better industrial base, as far as defence production is concerned, than our country," adding that Pakistan exported more defence equipment than India.

This is the image you gave the link for. Going by this Bihar [yellow], Uttar Pradesh [blue] are land of lights, honey and milk in India. And Indian Punjab [blue] is in the dark and starving. That must make lot of sense !

In fact look at Gujrat in India. I was told it was th most prosperous state in India. Apparently not going by this image.

WkZbdnn.jpg

Bihar and Gujarat are our population centres, obviously it'll be well lit. Gujarat uses more power but it is mostly used in our industries. UP and Bihar doesn't have them. Street lights or night light indicate population centres. Funny thing is Pakistan population centres are in the dark too. Imagine Karachi is as lit as our 3rd rate cities.

Also, i have given you a direct link to Nasa page. Are you suggesting Nasa edited it to show Pakistan in bad light. And india's per capita electricity consumption given by the same worrld bank is twice the Pakistan in 2014 (471kw vs 806kw). It'll be even more today.
