ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday banned candidates with dual nationality from participating in the elections, DawnNews reported.

An Election Commission meeting, headed by the Chief Election Commissioner, Justice Khwaja Hamid, decided that legislation would be passed to ban dual nationals from participating in elections.

The election commissioner also took notice of the delay in the fake degrees’ case and directed to re-evaluate the case and to expedite the process.

He also discarded Maulvi Iqbal Haider’s references filed against Awami National Party senators Zahid Khan and Haji Adeel.

Moreover, the election commission issued election symbols to two parties for polls.

Who exactly is a "dual national" under Pakistani law? Is Musharraf considered a dual national, for example? And what about Pakistanis from Azad Kashmir?

Lol Altaf Hussain has made it clear he will not even stand for election for a local town election. But this is a pretty stupid thing to do. I didn't have a chance to run for President before because my religion but now they even put more restrictions so a dual citizen like me has no chance what so ever.

Altaf Hussain can only stand for elections when he comes back to Pakistan Now i wonder one day he might demand to stand for elections and run Pakistani govt as president from London .
